His car, his time. If that's what he wants to do who's to say he's wrong? There's no doubt he's done a truly masterful job on the car, regardless whether one thinks it is total overkill or not. For a daily driven vehicle, perhaps it is overkill. For a car like the Astra VXR that should really be driven hard and enjoyed, I personally think it is overkill but that's just my personal opinion. I know from first hand experience how abusive a track day is on paint!
As for the 50+ coats of Zaino; again, if that's what he wants to do then so be it. My only real question regards his reason for doing so. He states "I have made a decision based on protection for the car due to Vauxhall paintwork being easily stone chipped that i was going to apply quite a few layers of this" and I have serious doubts that even that many layers of a product poured out of a bottle, wiped on, allowed to dry and then wiped off is going to deflect a stone at 80mph.
Overall, the man definitely has skills and we should simply appreciate that. Most of us here at MOL aspire to achieve the finest finish we can. I think there are bits and pieces of his write up we can all take something positive from.

Remember, this hobby is supposed to be your therapy, not the reason you need therapy.

I concur! I'm still not all the way through his post either, but the machine work in the engine bay is sick!
My whole reason behind the post was because I happened to stumble onto his thread while on another forum, where people where asking how many coats/layers of Zaino they had. Now I agree to each his own, but maybe someone should tell them about the "law of diminishing returns"
He put a lot of work into the vehicle. I honestly do not think the stereo system build is all that impressive. Nice equipment, strange construction. I think he should have routed a lot of those edges rather than use a file to round them over. Other than that, nice work though.
If its fast, loud, and runs on a flammable liquid...count me in.
I've been through this on DW......Marc is the guy who, where half a dozen pics will do, he has to post 300 pictures in one post......and by the way that's not a joke.......I personally don't open Marcs' posts these days cause they take so long to load up.
You can't take it away from him though he knows his stuff it's just a pity he knows that aswell and likes to tell eveyone so LOL!!
