  • My pride and joy...vandalized. *sigh*

Yup. My luck streak continues...just when I thought I might have kicked it, it kicks me where it counts.

Long story short, I was doing my brother a favor by watching his awesome son (1.5 years old) while he and his wife grabbed dinner and a movie. I parked my car in front of their house, where I usually do.

Mind you, this is a very nice neighborhood, no crime, no wandering trouble makers, etc.

Well, fast forward 4 hours...time to go home. I walk out to my car, and I was about to open my door and I notice white stuff all over the ground. At first glance I thought it was light bulb fragments, and then I looked closer...and smelled it. Yup, you guessed it...EGGS.

So I immediately look at my car and low and behold there are at least 3 eggs strewn down the side of my show car finish. I immediately ran and got a hose, and the softest towels my brother had...but the damage was done.

In one spot it almost looks like a rock was thrown as there is missing paint in a scatter-type pattern (like a shotgun spread) all the way to the metal. It's bad.

Then there were TONS of runs ALL the way along and down my entire Roush side skirts. It also got on my clear coated OZ Racing wheel ($175 a pop for a 17...).

I got home around midnight, did a Last Touch wipe down, followed by Meguiar's solvent for now. I eventually got the gunk off...but my car smells like nasty eggs, and I have missing paint and clear galore.

    COOOOOL.

Sorry tht happened to you dude. Its really frustrating to see all the hard work gets ruined by vandalizers. Mind posting some pics of the damage?

ps: Maybe your car was too shiny so they gave it a quick run down with eggs. (........just kidding dude...just kidding)

Re: My pride and joy...vandalized. *sigh*

I've just got a few car key deep scratches on my door panel yesterday. Sanded it just now and couldn't get the scratch out, need some touch up paint and sand again next week.

My friend has a 'show car' Audi TT with customized paint. However on daily basis he uses his spare car, a 20 year old Mercedes.

We invest in machines, products, time, energy to groom the car. I think a well groomed car gives these B@$+@?d more satisfaction scratching it, fulfilling their own psychological need to ruin good stuff.

I know most of the time it's a waste but did you file a police report ?

I wonder if MEGS does any testing with a protect ant that can hold up to the acid in eggs ?

I was lucky enough to have my car 100% survive an egg attack that sat on the paint for about 24 hours before I found out about it.

Sorry this happened. Its a shame people do not respect other peoples property any more. With your skills, I am sure it will be a distant memory in no time.

I feel your pain. I know how I would feel if anything like this were to happen to my "Pride and Joy". It would just make me sick. I hope you can get it back to looking the way it did without too much expense.

That is awful, Mark. I've never understood vandalism. I imagine the vandals chose your car simply because they knew, on the basis of the obvious care you (the unknown owner) have given it, that the damage to the car would be a great grief to to you.

Be sure to file a police report and insurance claim.

I get these kind of cases all the time, unfortunately. In Alabama, in order for an arrest warrant (for a misdemeanor) to be issued, there must be an eyewitness. No eyewitness, no arrest warrant.
That being said, if you want to pursue this, knock on a few neighbors doors and ask if anyone saw anything happen that night. If you luck out and find someone who saw it and can identify the perpetrator(s), the neighbor can accompany you and a warrant will be issued for an arrest. If ithe kid (I assume) is found guilty, you can ask for restitution. But a police report is a requisite. You can also sue for damages in Civil court
This is Alabama law; according to what State you're in, YMMV.

I feel for ya! Been egged 5 times... 4 when I was living 4 houses down from the back of a high school... our whole street got it 4 times. And once where I'm at now on my current truck (Luckily, just the windshield took it). Moving to a new house at the end of the month... and I'm pretty sure our paint will be safe for awhile.

Anyway, the 3rd time we got hit, I had a Dodge Ram, and it took damage down to the metal... It's weird to see that happen from an egg shell, but yup, been there.

Hope you get all the damage fixed to perfection!

Wow that stinks Mark. Here you are trying to be a nice guy and help someone else out and someone messes with your car. I am sure it will be OK when you are finished with it. It is just ridiculous that you have to do it for this reason. Let me know if you need anything.

Dang Mark, that's awful. It's a **** shame people don't care about other people's property anymore. Just last week my IS 300 was parked in a parking lot where I was only inside a few hours, I came out and someone had opended their car door into my door and now not only is there a fairly large dent, but the paint is completely gone in that spot too. Sometimes I wonder if people see a nice car and deliberately do something like that on purpose.
