Thanks for the sympathy guys, but no way will I get any vengence here. No one saw a thing, and there isn't anything to go by.

It was an random act of vandalism too (Wasn't even near my house, so no one that knows me could have done it).

Mark, you should file a police report with the agency responsible for where this occurrence took place. I you'd like you could take this report to your insurance, and remember that the damage, and any materials or expenditures is tax deductible.

Trust me, wont get you anywhere. I've been egged more times than I can count and shaving creamed a few times as well. Shaving cream acutally stains the paint and it took me well over 2 days of work to get rid of it. The police wont do anything about stuff that little, we had to fight with them to try and find out who smashed our rear window and quarter panel out. It was about $4000 in damage and they still wouldn't do anything because there were no witnesses or anything of the like.

Now we have secuirty cameras on our property hooked up to a DVR and nobody gets by unseen. A couple 1000watt motion detecting lights help as well.

I wonder if you can get fingerprints from egg shells..... it'd be good to try.... carefully picking up all the pieces into a ziplock bag with latex gloves on and then try to lift fingerprints from it.....

you can try tempting the kids to do it again and set up a hidden camera to catch them in the act.... and as you are taping you can also have the camera hooked up to the tv as you are baby sitting and watch for any movement.... i'd think you can sue the parents for a good chunk of cash for property damage even if the kids doing it are only 12yr olds.... for repairs + rental + inconvenance + devalue of vehicle....

I dont know whats wrong w/ this society that encourages children or even young adults to commit such pointless acts to make someone they dont even know feel bad... what are they trying to prove?... I can guess that the reasoning they had was your car was what they would consider "rice" since it is a slightly modified subcompact but im pretty sure they dont even know enough about cars to have to right to judge any car... and what gives them the right to discriminate/judge other people's taste when it does not even concern them... does this mean that everyone have to like what they like to be accepted....

we have night vision surveillance cameras set up outside our house and it records anything that goes by...

I really wish cities would start putting security cameras on every street corner to monitor the streets.... it would keep the neighborhoods safer and make people think twice about commiting crime....

In one spot it almost looks like a rock was thrown as there is missing paint in a scatter-type pattern (like a shotgun spread) all the way to the metal. It's bad.

Yep.

That's what it looks like. There's a picture or two in the gallery of Egg Damage to paint.

There's no easy fix either.

That really does ****. It happened to my dad's car too. luckily the police were driving by and caught them. people really don't have respect. but be careful now, halloween is coming up and some people like in my area toilet paper everyone's house and throw eggs at everything in sight. one guy i saw with a paintball gun. that really pisses me off. luckily i was standing outside last halloween when people came with eggs and toilet paper. i'll be on guard this year too.

Although my truck is far far far from having good paint, an egg took off a big section of paint some years ago on halloween. I was not happy.

That reminds me of when I had a beautiful dark green Acura NSX.

I had just detailed it and someone threw eggs at it during the night.

I think it's true about the old saying...

An idle mind is the devil's playground.

But, I definitely believe that those people got (or will get) what was coming to them, just as I have received for the things I've done.

That's too bad!

My car was egged once when I was driving. I had my window down and it just barely hit the window trim and then flew by my head and hit the rear window. It scared me... a lot! I never fully got that smell out of the headliner.
