I too am a fan of ONR, if I have the time, I will do a normal wash, but when it's too cold or my car isn't too dirty, I will opt for the ONR. I never measure but probably do 2 oz. per gallion in my wash bucket, I use a rinse bucket with just plain water. I also use a grout sponge as a lot others on other sites were doing and I use a squirt bottle filled with the wash solution to pre-spray the section down I am washing to help it dwell or soak before running the sponge over it. I do 1-2 sections at at time and then dry. I am happy with the results...

3fitty...has there been any decided opinions about the products you tested almost 8 months ago? I'm interested to hear about the 476s, cause I just ordered some hearing it had good protection...

Tom...Lowes has a one gallon pump sprayer on sale this week for 9.97...it will be alot easier using that over the squirt bottle..plus holds more liquid

Well, the first good news is that the price of Collinite 476s is right, so it doesn't break the bank, but lets get to the meat and potatoes of the issue...

What made me buy it and try it, was my use of Collinite 845. It was a product I tried during a test I did and I REALLY liked it. Easy on, easy off, and good durability..

After getting used to using a paste wax, 476s is easier on then I oringally wrote, but it still can be tough to get off.

But the biggest question is regarding durability? Did I get 1 year out of it? Absolutely NOT. Not even close. On my wife's DD, parked in the element at all times and subject to the harsh Canadian winter, she got about 8-10 weeks TOPS, but there is more to this story...

My mother has a 2001 single stage "Tafetta White" Honda Civic. A few months back I polished the care and and sealed it with two coats of 476s. I really worked hard on the car and the end result was great. However, shortly thereafter the paint looked "stained". It looked as though dirt was again imbedded in the paint (after I had washed, clayed, polished and sealed the car two weeks earlier).

So, I washed it again and to my amazement, a lot of the dirt would not come out with simple washing.

I've never been so puzzled.

So, I decided I would redo the entire process, just changing the last step, subbing out NXT 2.0 for Collinite 476s. I did so and the results have been amazing. After being in the elements for two weeks, the car looked "stained" again, but this time, when I washed it, all the stains simply came out from washing.

I really have no explanation for it, other than to say my 476s will be on the trading block soon. Been there, done that and it may be a fine product for some, just not for me.

From *MY* experience, the claims by the manufacturer are wildly exaggerated and I did NOT see the levels of durability that others have.

I wonder if used as a topper of NXT or DG 105 if you would get better results...from what I have read about it, that is what most people are doing with it, using it as a topper...I will let you know after I get it and apply it to my VW Golf MK4

I have to agree with most people here about ONR. I bought a quart of it at the beginning of the month. I used it 3 times so far. I am amazed with the results. By washing and drying a section at a time the results are great. No spotting, no residue. Works very well. I like this product a lot.

I decided to try this product because my area is under stage 4 water restrictions. I am glad i did.

The Collinite 476S is a wax and while it supposedly has the durability of a sealant, the hype may exceed the actual results.
Because of its less than easy removal, I used it twice and gave mine away.
The 845 Insulator Wax is very easy to use and seems to have all the durability I need. It seems like I add more wax/sealant about every 4 to 6 weeks and that isn't hard to get out of many products.

As far as topping, I don't do it since I don't feel it's worth the effort.
While NXT 2.0 isn't a product I have used a lot, I question just how much 476S can improve the look of NXT 2.0 when it has been applied to a properly prepped surface.

Both Optimum ONR, ProtectAll QEW, and the Detailer's Pride rinseless washes seem to work quite good. The capability of washing my car in the garage all winter has been great. It has gotten to the point that probably at least 90% of my washing is with rinseless or waterless products. No need to wait for shade, just do it in the garage, summer or winter.

While I certainly don't have any insider information, I can't help but think Meguiar's will be in this market before long.

I tried it once over NXT 2.0 but didn't notice a measurable difference in look or durability.

I know I may sound like Debbie Downer on 476s but frankly this was one of those products that just didn't live up to the durability hype.

Don't get me wrong... there is nothing wrong with it and I wouldn't call it a bad product, but in my experience it is nowhere near the hype in terms of durability.

On to my other new goods. I also bought Lake County 4 inch pads for my G110, based on many positive reviews.

They feel much different than my array of 8006, 9006 and 7006 pads, maybe even a bit more "luxurious" (if that makes sense). I bought 4 inch pads for two reasons. A bit better ability to navigate tight spots and I've been told they are better at correction.

In my estimation, I would say both statements were pretty accurate. At the very least, I thing 4 inch pads are a good investment for a hack (like me) who doesn't use a rotary. I used them today on the rear lights (which were VERY swirled) and I knocked out ALL the swirls with one pass of M80 and and LC orange pad. Really nice. I also tried a small test spot on a neighbors Honda Accord (dark grey) and again, found them effective.

I like my 9006 better for wax application and my 7006 with terry bonnet for wax removal, but there is room in my garage for the LC 4 inch pads.

Out of curiosity...how were you using the 4" pads? Did you attach them to the standard G110 backing plate? Or did you switch backing plates?

Love the 4" pads more than ever now and I use them with their own packing plate. I suppose I could have used the G110 but I'd be afraid I'd "whoops" and screw up.

Since we are on the subject of ONR, how are you guys using it to clean the wheels? It just doesn't seem to have as much cleaning power as car soap and water does...

I use Quik Wheel Detailer on my wheels when I do an ONR...

Depends on how bad the wheel is. I often use Super Degreaser followed by an ONR rinse.
