I'm getting my 1995 TransAm re-sprayed in the coming weeks (maybe months?) and I wanted to know if anyone has any tips on getting the best job possible? The painter is a neighbor and family friend, he painted Peterbilt's for about 20 years before opening his own shop.
My goal is to have a semi-flawless base and then take care of the paint with Meguiar's. It's been treated fairly well so far, but the recent clearcoat failure has me somewhat embarrassed to drive it around. Right now, it's got a 12 inches x 8 inch missing layer of clearcoat in the MIDDLE of the hood. With every wash / rain, the area gets a little bigger since water seeps under the clear and loosens it up.

Any tips / recommendations will be greatly appreciated.
