Do your friends think you're nuts for cleaning your car so much?
Re: Do your friends think you're nuts for cleaning your car so much?
Yes, they think all of me are crazy... and also nuts...
The only reason some people get lost in thought... is because it is unfamiliar territory for them.

Re: Do your friends think you're nuts for cleaning your car so much?
My neighbor actually told me to stop cleaning my cars so much because he was hearing about it from his wife! I have the cleanest cars in the neighborhood and don't care what any body thinks!
Re: Do your friends think you're nuts for cleaning your car so much?
I must be getting crazy...
I pointed a female co-worker to one of my posts here and gave her a list of consumer products to buy... even offered to ScratchX some paint transfer if she was unsuccessful.
I wash/wax my mother-in-laws car on alternate weekends when I am not cleaning our own two cars.
The other weekend I was looking over a neighbor's brand new black, Ford Edge. He was showing me a dealer installed scratch. He said he was taking it to a "detailing friend" to have the scratch "buffed out". I warned him about taking this vehicle to someone that did not appear to even know how to wash without adding swirls!
Every time I'm cleaning the cars the neighbors say:
"What are you doing...making the rest of us look bad?" to which I reply: "Washing my car"
"When can you do mine" to which I reply: "How about 3:00 pm?"
"How much do your charge" to which I reply: "You couldn't afford my rates" (I'm starting to re-think my rates)
Maybe I'm nuts but, if you've got to be nuts about something why not a clean, shimmering, smooth ride?

I've used the "you couldnt afford my rates" - it's amazing that people think $20 is too expensive for wash, to which I respond "guess you dont wanna know how much to make your car look decent?"
My friends think I'm nuts, to the point where they wipe their feet off before getting in my car! I dont get to it 2x a week like some of you guys, but I try to keep it clean. Right now tho, the heat's put a stop to it, but I wanted to do an 'extreme' makeover this fall anyway
Re: Do your friends think you're nuts for cleaning your car so much?
initially yes, most of them, including relatives and neighbours... but they've gotten accustomed to my lil hobby -- specially those whose cars's lives I've "touched". hehe.
but there is somebody who never once thought I was crazy/OCD when it comes to this subject matter... my rival and at times accomplice... my girlfriend. ;-)
Re: Do your friends think you're nuts for cleaning your car so much?
My friends think I am nuts anyway, but they really think I am nuts about cleaning my car. I don't know why people think $20 is to much for a wash. My wife pays $60 every 2 weeks to have our house cleaned and the lady is here about 2 hours.

You repair things with tools. You fix things with a hammer.
Re: Do your friends think you're nuts for cleaning your car so much?
I get the ol' "you gonna wash the paint off the car".
My co workers/friends/wifes friends/wifes coworkers thought I was nuts but I get work out of them, my wifes friends Excursion, 2002 Explorer, next week a Dodge Ram, maybe a Pontiac Vibe, Subaru Legacy and maybe a Dodge Ram from a buddy at work. Who's nuts now!
They do like my cars though.

Re: Do your friends think you're nuts for cleaning your car so much?
I wouldn't wash anybodys car for a measly twenty bucks. It takes me about three hours to wash, dry, vacuum and clean the windows. Heck, the local car wash charges twelve to eighteen bucks (depending if you want the interior stink, flashing light wax and tire goo) and then a couple bucks tip to the guy for scraping the paint off with a shop rag.
Neighbors gave up thinking I was normal a long time ago. For many years I was the guy that edged his lawn with hand clippers. Age (and maybe a little less OCD or slightly more sense) made be finally break down and buy an edger/weedwacker thing.

I finally bought a weedwacker this spring but only used it once. Hand clippers all the way for me too. That might change since a fence is getting put up today, too much to do by hand.
