Sounds like you haven't watched F1 for a while. Halfway through the season there was a three way tie in the points for 1st overall with 4th place just a couple points behind them. Currently there are 10 points separating these 4 drivers and less than 20 points separating the top 3 teams in the Constructors Championship standings. The last race in Germany was fantastic!

And at least they let the guys in F1 actually race each other. The Indy NASCAR race was one of the first NASCAR races I've tried to watch in recent years and I simply couldn't do it. All those cautions just killed it for me - there's just no fun in that. Meanwhile, in the F1 race, Lewis Hamilton had the race in the bag but for a botched call by his team during the single safety car period (huge wreck at the last corner) and he rejoined the race in 5th place. With roughly a dozen laps to go he one by one caught and passed the 4 cars ahead of him to take the win. Great stuff!!

The engines are NOT all the same. Recently, NASCAR made the Toyotas reduce their horse power by 15 hp, even though they were not in violation of any rules.

I think NASCAR's only other, and perhaps better option would have been to cancel/postpone the race. Anyone who watched saw how those tires failed-- terminating in a violent explosion. They couldn't let the drivers race on that tire, so what we got was 168 laps of tire testing. Too bad, because NASCAR is really on a roll as far as popularity.
I read it was 20 HP on a website. And I think it was only for the Nationwide cars. Agreed those tires were not safe in any way.

        Re: nascar?

What happened with the Toyota motors is that Nascar let Toyota put the new Blocks in at the beginging of the season, (Chevy,Ford,Dodge) seeing that toyota was killing all the other Manufactures the other teams (Ford,Dodge,Chevy) knew about they can drop their new blocks in at the half way point in the season. There is a rule stating that Halfway through the season the teams can put the new motor in like new Chevys RO7 Motor which is the new motor and nascar would not let them do it at the half way point this year. And every year in the past they were allowed to do it. So nascar is getting paid by Toyota under the table to not let the other teams put there new motors in. That is what I think.

too bad NASCAR doesn't listen to its fans, the only way they will change is if enough fans leave and crowds dont fill the raceways and there are more people talking like this. But that wont happen, they are losing their core fans in place of of commercialization and money and letting foreign cars in. Dale would be turning over in his grave right now, Im suprised Richard Petty hasn't been vocal then again he is a team owner.

They have done the same thing with D1. These regulations kill the sport

You might check into the DTM races.
They are probably one of the better races out there\

            best of luck!
