  • Which anti virus do we use?

BlueZero's idea on a browser got me thinking. Which AV do we use?
Currently I am testing Eset NOD32 Smart Security. I used to use AVG Free 7.5.
I think I will try Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 next. A lot of people use Norton 2008 Suite I hear.
This is a good link to test your computer:

Have been using AVG free since I found it about 4 years ago. 0 problems to date and it doesn't hog memory and crash the system like other programs (NORTON!!!)

I couldn't agree more with Tyler! AVG has been absolutely fantastic.

It's not a memory hog, the scans are quick, the autodetection is very good, and it updates in a few seconds. Can't ask for more!

Many people use Norton because their system came with it.

Oh yeah...try to completly remove Norton from your system...

Have you tried AVG Free 8.0 yet? I hear some bad things about it. Plus after some medical bills from my wifes surgery I need to watch some discretionary spending.

I do love the automatic 30 second updates!!!!

I had Norton pre-installed on my laptop and I quickly learned to dislike it (took all of about 2 days I think). I had to keep uninstalling things, restart my computer about 4 times, then figured out Norton actually had to come out with a stand alone program specifically to remove all traces of their junk!!!!!

I used Norton for many years. The last one I bought a few years ago was a system hog and I ended up uninstalling it and tried AVG. I am now running AVG 8.0 and it seems to work great. I also run the free version of ZoneAlarm for a firewall.

I used to use Norton's but it was just too big and slowed my computer down a ton. I switched to Kaspersky, which is light, super fast and has amongst the best detection in the biz.

I work at a HP certified repair shop and I receive a lot of computers with NOD32 with virus everywhere, I really don't like it.

I've used Kaspersky and for example tried it a couple of months ago that my motherboard brought a free full copy of it (version 6) and it's really good. A work partner bought version 7 and it's wonderful

Haven't tried AVG but I hear great things about it.
Personally I don't have Anti Virus, don't like them but again I've never got a virus infection on my PC, I'm real careful

No AV?? Why don't you like them? Outside a resource drain.
I may go back to AVG. I tested Eset with Shields Up and it failed.........

To me I guess it's not necessary, I'm very careful.
Resources for me it's not a problem, plenty of RAM (4GB), I really have a fast computers but I just don't like them as much, I do try them but most of the time I have no AV

We like running avast. A good friend of ours is a supervisor for IT at our local community college. They swear by it and the computers at the college take a lot of abuse. If it good enough for them it good enough for us. Plus it is also free.

This made me crack up! LMAO!

I too, am a complete computer nerd. I also don't use any anti-virus at all. Personally, I find 95% of viruses and software related problems are a direct cause of using Internet Explorer, Outlook, Pier-to-pier share problems used improperly (not being careful and downloading a 'bad' file, and opening forwarded emails. Oh yeah, and **** is a big computer killer LOL!

Back when I was A LOT downloading programs (cough cough), I trusted Panda Anti-virus. Unbelievably strong software that would even catch files not in the database which I have only been able to find maybe one other AV that could do the same, though not as well. I seriously still can not believe how good that software was, though it is a shame I have a hard time relocating it. I never liked Norton though; utter **** at catching and deleting things, as well as most viruses being catered around being able to hack that particular software, and it is a huge resource hog.
