It all depends on how much the lottery payout is. First week of a new draw here in California pays $7M gross but if you take the cash value it's just over half that. Considering the cost of real estate in California that won't really get you all that far. Oh sure, it will take care of your bills, your mortgage, car loans, etc and give you a very nice nest egg for retirement. It will even allow you to travel a bit.

But if you hit it when the numbers are more like $80M it changes things quite a bit! College funds for all the nieces and nephews, pay off mortgages for brothers and sisters, etc, nice new home, collection of some favorite cars, lots of travel, donate seriously to some major charities, and still have plenty left over to invest and live very comfortably on that income.

Yeah, I'd invest it, too. I'd also stay in college and finish up my business degree. Then, I would take a year off and work on the Porsche. Finally, I would open up a detailing shop.

Invest it, make more out of it
Give some to my family and try to help out others.

With the interest that bank gives me I would live with that and start enjoying life.

BTW I like in Dominican Republic, here Banks give you between 9% and 12% of interests, depends on the amount of money.

If I won... I would quit my job and detail. First I would take a couple years traveling to different shops learning what I could.

And yes I would help others too. That's a given for me. I do what I can now but it would be great to be able to do more.
