Not to beat this to death, but...
...I'd pay 20-40 times the price if I received 20-40 times the result.

I just don't think that's going to happen though.

i have a client with a black nsx who was sold the ital wax and insisted i used it. did half the car with that following the process and the other half with 80 and 21. he threw away the ital!
by the way,we were going to be a zymol detail center untill we figured out they were more interested in our amount of sales than making sure we got the best from the product!

            the same as this.

why do i need a $275 dress shirt made by Cavalli or Pal Zileri when I could just settle for one rom Tip Top or Stars. yes the quality is better, but in the end, its the man that makes the shirt, not the shirt that makes the man.

              Re: zymol

Zymol waxes supposedly don't have any solvents. They use something else instead of solvents to keep the wax stable. These oils cost much more than solvents, I have been told numbers like Solvents:$9/gallon VS. $1500/gallon.

Someone has yet to prove to me that these oils are better than solvents though.

most cheapy waxes are 90% solvent and 10% remaining product to do the job. (and 1% usually being the most wax you see). That's why most waxes are stupid cheap (and stink). Good waxes will use 10-20% carnauba.

The Zymol trick is to use oils instead of solvent. With that comes a big surcharge in price as solvent is $9/gallon and oils are about $1500/gallon (depends on the oil, of course).
I have no idea if this is true, but just what someone has told me. Someone should do a side by side comparison...but then again would we want a ton of zymol trolls on MOL?

QUOTE: "I learned from an old school hot rodder the golden rule of shine: THE most important thing is the "prep work". A cleaned paint free of impurities, polished meticulously like a fine jewel and sealed with a good quality protectant, in that era wax, will yield the results you are looking for. (The advances in synthetic polymers now offer the best protection of chemisty). He and all his friends exclusively used Meguairs.

You can put any quality wax on top of a prepped surface and it will look spectacular; conversely, you can put a million dollar wax on a poorly prepped surface and it will simply not compare. All things equal, if one can tell the difference in a mega-buck wax next to Meguairs #26 say, the nuances at best will not justify the cost differential. The law of diminishing return on investment takes precedence.

I have found the most compelling reasons to use Meguairs is longevity in the industry, the dominance of concourse winners and the cost-effective performance-proven products in the professional and detailer lines. Use the clay, cleaner, polish and sealants/waxes and you will have a million dollar shine.

In fact, I just returned to the hobby and learned of claying on this forum. I was simply stunned at the transformation of the surface. I cleaned, polished and sealed the work with NXT and my silver Yaris looks like that: SILVER. I graduated to the professional line for the cost benefit.

                        Hope that helps and regards...

Here is a larger pic of the Yaris. I took it back to the dealership and all the sales people and customers came directly to the car like a magnet. I parked next to another one that was brand new and there was NO comparison."

I "Meguiarized" a Black Cadillac XLR last year and the owner of the dealership who the vehicle owner is friends with said "that car never looked so good, even when we delivered it"...passion, product, patience...and you can get great results.

What I find strange about that test posted on page 7, is that when they tried the Zaino wax, they did the whole system (polish, wax, etc.) but with all the other waxes they only used wax (OK so I particularly noticed about the Meguiar's )

I would also like to add on the test it seemed it was predetermined that the top 2 would be zaino, and zymol. The others were added to make it look good for the test.

How many people have actually tried one of the higher end waxes here???

And you also have to take into account that tastes vary (it's what makes us human).

When it comes to prep I find myself going back to M83 & M80 everytime as they fantastic products.

For me though it depends on the paint type, metallics and I will 99% of the time go for a sealant.
But solid colours and for me it has to be Zymol Concours, it's fantastically durable (better than M16).

And iirc didnt Meguiars used to make Zymol Carbon for them??

For those interested I live up the road from Zymol's European director and hooked up with him to detail my girlfriends MX5/Miata.
And we made this little video of how to apply Concours:

                                Re: zymol

                                Results are pretty subjective, IMO.

The only higher end wax I've tried is Meguiar's. Other than that I've used TW wax. I don't have the money to try out Zymol's or Zaino's stuff, and I have yet to see any side by side comparison that show either of those looking better than Meg's. For the price and quality, I'm satisfied with Meg's.

PS. What does IIRC mean? I've been trying to figure it out for a while
