But as someone else said, detailing is largely subjective. This thread is pointless because it is arguing about opinions.

Im still confused about zymol. would it be worth it to try some of the cheaper wax that they have or do u need to get the expensive stuff. ill say it again, i hope mike is doing that test on zymol and meguiars. that will solve everything.

          Re: zymol

Heres my .02. When i was younger I bought a brand new truck. I decided Since it was new Only the "best' for my baby. At the time the consumer Zymol was around $14.00 dollars. I bought it. Followed all their suggestions, applied the wax and was I proud. For about 2 weeks. Then as other posters have said, The beading and gloss was gone. Needed to re-apply. ok maybe I did something wrong. Redid the wax, same results. Now I was disgusted, went back to buying whatever brand struck my fancy, until a friend suggested maguiars. Thatr was 9/05. Now its maguairs or nothing. Why? price, proformance, duability, and the ability to get answers on this forum from people you trust. So in my opinion, you don't always get what you pay for. Sometimes less is more. Sorry for the lenghty post.

            Re: zymol

Whether it's worth it or not is a question only you can answer for yourself. The only way to know for sure is to test it for yourself on your paint. Sorry, some things in life are a gamble.

Personally, considering the quality of results I've seen with Meguiar's (and that nobody's shown me noticeably better results with anything else) I have no interest in spending the money to try Zymol. Sure, if somebody I knew had some they were willing to let me try I'd give it a shot. But I see no reason to make it a priority.

If you do decide to try Zymol you'll need to try one of their paste waxes (list prices starting at $46). The liquid cleaner/wax in the blue bottles isn't the same stuff. It's made for the mass market by Turtle Wax under a licensing deal.

I would like to see that. I have used Zymol's Destiny wax and I felt it was a great product. I currently use Mothers and some Meguiars products with excellent results.

before i used meguiars the choice was either mothers or meguiars. mothers has alot of products but herd they wernt as good. you should make ur own test between mothers and meguiars if u havnt alread, and well work on the zymol prodject.

Funny you say that, before becoming a CPA I was a Psychologist. I received a sample from a detailing website that sold Zymol products. They sent me about 2.5-3 oz of it for free along with P21S. It was in a container similiar to the ones in the sampler kit but slightly larger. Regardless of price it is still the best wax I ever used. I still have some left that I only use in the summer.

                      Re: zymol

It does make me laugh whenever people mention Zymol on any forum, it always ends up people going on about the price and not the product.

I've used Megs stuff and been happy with it, I've used Zymol and been impressed with it.

Forget the consumer stuff it's made by TW.

Also how many people have actually tried it? not the consumer stuff, but things like HD-Cleanse (my current favorite detailing product, much better than Megs #7 and try it on your cars glass, it's a fantastic cleaner) or did you know that you can use the waxes on trim and rubber?

I was very sceptical about hand applying wax and didnt like it to start with, but what happens if you get a bit of stray grit on the paint that you dont see, if your applying a wax by applicator pad it's going to scratch the paint.
But if doing this by hand you can feel it on your skin and can stop and remove it safely.

                        Re: zymol

Penn and Teller had a show on where they took over a very upscale resturant and had a cook/chef working out in the alley with a toaster oven. They took very common foods, some not even fresh and had the cook prepare them in fancy ways and served them to the customers of this fancy restaurant. In nearly every case the customer gave rave, but snooty reviews of the food like it was the fanciest meal they had ever eaten. Only a couple of them noticed anything funny about any of the foods and none guessed what was going on over all.

Also I had a friend that worked at a Gibson's (pre Kmart and Walmart) store. He said they had products lined up nicely on the shelf for sale at $.25 each and they wouldn't sell. So he would shove them all into a basket and put a sign up, 3 for a $1 and they would sell out.

+1 for marketing! This is why I think the Mirror Glaze line needs to be revamped! They should redo the containers so they are more appealing to the consumer! Detailer line is different.

I just think Zymol has done a damn good job at marketing, as well as Turtle Wax with their Ice products. Why else would you want to even try that stuff other than just curiousity because its a clear liquid in an interesting bottle, just as Zymol is expensive with the image to back it up. Why else would people buy a rebranded Turtle Wax product or waxes that (to my research thus far) have just not held their own against Meguiar's.

The Pro Line is just that the pro line not geared to the average consumer, keeping the bottles the same, nothing flashy its the product inside that does the selling!

Now the consumer line, yes flashy is better.

I used a bottle of their cheap cleaner wax before trying NXT. Left the smoothest finish I ever felt, but really didn't last.
