  • Edit your license plates

I have noticed on some pictures people put on here that are showning there or there customers license plates. I always edit the picture before putting it on here for the customers and myselfs safty. You don't know what kind of people are out there that have excess to computers that can find where you live at. You might think I'm anal about this but I don't want to see people and there families get hurt because of some loco.

I'm sorry. Did you say something?

Thanks for the pointer, Cobalt. Never can be too careful, these days.

I edit mine, only because I feel bad for posting cutomers license plates. But for myself I don't really worry about that stuff.

What can happen if someone sees you plate? People see my plate all day long while I am driving. I never saw what the big deal was.
You left out licking the water off. Oh, wait a minute, that's my cat, not my car. Uh, I mean my cat licks himself dry. I don't lick my cat dry. Or my car. -PC.

You do have a point there about that. But there are always things going on the internet. Like with people hacking in and getting hold of your social and bank accounts.

So what if you have excess to horsepower. It your choice if you want tokeep posting your or a customers plate. But I can tell you this a customer may noy be happy to know that his plate is being posted all over the web. Thats why I as them is it ok to post there car on this website and that I don deit the plate out.

I personally think it's a good idea to edit out the license plate.

Cobalt2006: He was referring to the fact that you mispelled "access". Excess means too much. Access refers to being able to use something.

I was searching the web to find out any ill effects to having your plate published online. I could not find any infomation. Has anyone ever heard of anything going wrong by having your plate number online?

I am just wondering what could happen.

In some states, you can go to the DMV with a license plate number, pay a fee and find out where the owner of the car lives. Used to be that way in Oregon years ago......not any longer.

Thats not really web related. I can get the plate number of the car in the parking lot right now. No big deal. And that sounds like a service that the DMV provides then. Thanks for the information. I did not know that.

There are only two types of people that can get eccess you address from your plate. The law and a computer wiz. The worse thing that could happen is someone can find out where you live at.

I guess that does not sound too bad to me. If I had enemys then that would be a different story all together.

The concern I have heard about it is showing all the extras that you have. Not so much on these forums but others like stereo equipment forums. Showing someone that you have $$$$ in equipment in your car might make it a better target than just breaking into any old car. Or if you were to show one of your customers that has 5 expensive cars sitting in some warehouse somewhere. Sometimes it's better not to advertise. I dont worry about it too much, but mine is stock.
