Apparently here in Southern California, a bunch of Girl Scouts did a car wash. They made the local paper for using Steel Wool SOS pads to remove bird droppings.

Now, that is scary. Assuming the bird droppings were removed before the clear coat, I cannot imagine the damage. My guess would be that wet sanding may be required to fix it.
Was there any word on whether or not they agreed to pay for damages or anything like that?

If you're driving by one and it's a cause or a program you support, simply drive into the parking lot, hand them $5.00 and then drive away.

You help out and no harm is done to your car.

Your car will thank you and you won't have to spend an entire Saturday undoing the damage inflicted.
Yep, pay 'em 5 bucks to leave you alone.......

And by the way, while you are driving - your brake rotors are probably very hot, so sudden temperature changes means damage to your rotors, and you will have to resurface 'em in a best case....worst scenario - replace.....a thousand dollars

Warped rotors are not a good thing. They are to be avoided at all costs! I did have trouble with the rotors on one of my TAs but the dealer turned and eventually replaced them under warranty.

Rotors aren't too big a deal.

They are designed to get hot fast and to cool via air. HOwever, a bit of water doesn't hurt. I.e. rain, puddles...

Just don't do any really hard breaking and then wash your car immediatly.

Wow, thats some scary stuff, I couldn't imagine taking an SOS pad to the paint. I never have let kids or a car wash wash my car and I don't plan on it any time soon.

While this car wasn't subjected to these girls, it was polished with a ScotchBrite pad from an ex girlfriend of the owner of the car!

Took a LOT of buffing with a W7006 pad and a rotary to work these out.

I can understand where the "ex" comes from now. If my girl did that to my car...or her's...I would tell her BYE!
