Nice work, sneek.... that's kinda what I was thinking of doing to it, also... just based on what I see. I took what you had, and went a slightly different direction though:

I think speeding it up and "growing" the lines out-of-order gives a more "sparkling" effect.... and even mine I'm not happy with. If I were to do it again, I'd have it with a few more frames for a gradual effect.

ya if you grow it out it takes along time because you have to make the lines come in very smooth i could do it but it would take probly about 80 frames to make it look okay

i dont know if joe comes back here he can tell us what he wants

Exactly. And in doing so, you end up with a HUGE file size which isn't really appropriate for a page header.

I wonder if the same thing could be done in Flash to keep the size down a bit....

            Joe,
I think the site looks great.

One thing I was thinking about as I was looking through it. During my short time here at MOL I have realized you have a deep passion for detailing. It's obvious. I think that is one heck of a strong point that with a little thought could be worked into your site a little better.

There are plenty of folks out there detailing that can shine something. You are able to take a car, and with passion, apply your skills and then take pics to show other Detailers and enthusiasts who have a great respect for your work. I think that comes from your passion. Figure out a way to express that in the site.

Don't mistake my enthusiasm for experience.

Joe, Good site! One suggestion I have is how about some before and after shots to show just how much help you give a finish? Like some of your extreme makeovers. Something to give a non MOL member something to compare the difference to.

Oh, never mind, I was to stoopid to click on the picture with the links attached.

I love your site. If there one thing people love its a story. Whether it be through pictures or word, people love to be told a story. For example i found it fascinating to read your story about how you became a detailer. I'd like to see your pictures tell a bit more of a story. They are beautiful cars and you have made them that way, perhaps if you had progress pictures and told a bit of a story as to how you made this diamond shine then it would enthuse/get customers to think more and take action to call you. Just something to get your potential clients thinking of Superior Shine when their car is dirty.

USP - Unique Selling Proposition. What is it that SS offers/can offer that no one else does? Find this out and convey it to your clients. On here we all know you are an amazing detailer, with few to equal your experience and passion.
Somewhere in your business lies a USP. It could be something as simple as "having a FREE online Quote form" (after all if people are on your site its probably because they are ready to buy) where people can fill out their details and send to you some information about their car that needs detailing. You can put in there a few important questions that you require. In the world of internet people are impatient, they want something and they want it now. A FoQ would mean that they if they are online at 10pm then they dont have to wait til the morning to be in contact with you. Not only do you have that persons contact details for further marketing but for the rest of that day they would be thinking of the email that SS is going to send them. Perhaps you could have a FoQ (Free online Quote) instead of a FaQ (Frequently asked Questions) Meet the FoQers

well anyway. Your site is amazing and its clear you have put a great deal of effort into it. Its great to see everyone helping you out with their thoughts, i think it shows how respected you are in our little community. Making a webpage sounds simple when you say it but somehow it turns out to be quite complex. If theres something that meguiars has done well with their site is that it makes you want to come back to see what else is happening. Whether it be new products or this forum. Keep it upto date & let people know what is happening. Give them a reason to come back to your site.

                Best of Luck

EDIT - the contact us link at the very bottom of each page doesnt work.

Joe, you knock me out, Buddy!

You've received some great advice, but I think it is fine as it stands.

Joe, do you have any pictures of stellar interior jobs or high contrast before/after interior shots? Couldn't find one on the site.

The reason I ask: many of my female customers were far more interested in how clean and fresh the interior was than they were about the exterior shine. As long as the paint looked good and we eliminated nasty scratches, most of the women tended to focus on the interiors. Do you find the same?
See the big picture, enjoy the details

I'm not Joe, but I'll chime in anyway and say that yes, this is DEFINITELY true of my female customers. That's why on a female customer's car, I'll spend 6-7 hours on the interior, and 2-3 exterior, as opposed to 4-5 each on a male customer's car (unless they specify exterior to be more important, and then it's a complete role reversal LOL)

I've gone through about half the site so far. Other than the already mentioned minor spelling/wording issues, the only real area of improvement I can see is your picture compression program. It is blurring the pictures when you post the smaller sizes. The ones in your gallery look pretty good, and in fact, my brother is working on serious revamping my site and he is using a very similar gallery scroll system.

You might want to look into the free image optimizer at www.xat.com since it does an excellent job resizing and compressing pictures with very low distortion.

I really like how you have linked the makeover pictures with this forum. Very cool.

Nice, simple to navigate site. If you need any HTML work, I took a webmastering class last year, I've worked with raw code, Dreamweaver MX, and Flash MX.

I like your site, not over the top or frilly. I would suggest that the gallery page be accessable without horizontal scrolling, or it could be my browser.

Great site, and I'm still in awe of that fleet of school buses you detailed.
