I like the forum as is ... I also like the chat room my local Mazda club has on their forum. Works very well for our group. Admittedly, we are a bit smaller in number.John @ HillCityAutoDetail.com

While I'm not opposed to chat rooms they represent the opposite of what a forum is all about. This is an archive... a wealth of data and info. We can explore topics in more depth. We can take time to research and reflect on ideas.
Chat rooms are totally different animals. Between check new posts, and PM real time communication is almost available, but forums offer so much more.
You would never see quality posts like we see in the "Show off you Lastest Work" threads.

Anyway... as I said before I don't care for chat rooms. I think a forum can act as a chat room you just need someone on the other end to chat with (just like a actual chat room) and as mentioned above everything is documented for anyone to come back and look at or reference again.
