Wow I learn something new every day. I had no idea there were two different packages. Everytime I've seen the g100 advertised whether from Meguiar's or other retailer, it's always included the backing plate and foam pad.

Is there a price difference between the g100 and g100a???

It is the G100a that comes with the pad and backing plate. If you order just the G100 from other sources, you will only get the machine.

With that said, the G100's warranty alone makes it worth it! I have worn out one already, but then again I do a LOT of buffing with it!

Hi Richard,

I believe Meguiar's Online only sells the G100A now, but other sources still have just the G100. There was a small price difference between the two. However, I think it is wise of Meguiar's to now offer the G100A as people would order the DA then have to locate a backing plate. This way with the pad, and backing plate, as soon as a person receives it, the way you go!

Thanks for the info. I've been telling people for the last 2 years, buy the g100 cause it includes the proper backing plate and foam pad. LOL. I guess I got lucky, no one ever complained.

Hi all,

I understood the pad that comes with the G-100a is not very good quality and should be discarded..........is this information wrong?

LOL! If they ordered it from Meguiar's Online, they would have probably been told and ordered the right one.

Working as the Super Moderator on here for the last 2+ years, I have come a across a few people that were not been very happy when they realized that they did not get the backing plate with the G100. I think Meguiar's Canada still sells just the G100.

You may be thinking of the Porter Cable version... the pad that comes with the g100a is the polishing pad 8006, I have many of them and they are a very high quality pad, in fact all Meguiars "SoftBuff" pads are very good quality.

Yeah you're confusing the pad that comes in the box with the Porter Cable--it's a dense white foam pad, not the G-100a.
