Hi Everyone, I am selling my PC 7424 dual action polisher. It is in great shape, I barely used it. It probably has about 3 hours on it. I use a rotary buffer now so I have no use for this machine anymore. Here are a few pics $75 OBO
Nothing but the best, That's why I use Meguiar's.
1996 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC Dark Baltic Blue
4.6 32 Valve DOHC V8
I first picked up a rotary buffer about 25 years ago. I have buffed hundreds if not thousands of cars while working at production shops and in my own business that I started over 16 years ago.
Keeping all that in mind I consider my porter cable 7336 / 7424 / G100 and same to be an essential part of my arsenal and would never attempt to achieve a brilliant near perfect swirl free polish job without it.
I agree with Joe. It's a shame you sold it as you will soon discover that the PC goes hand in hand with the Rotary. While the Rotary cuts faster you will no doubt leave buffer trails and holograms and these can ONLY be removed with a PC.
I consider the PC a finishing tool. Something that's great to learn on, and will go pretty far in teaching you about how to achieve a swirl free finish. But sooner or later you will find the PC either too slow, or just not strong enough to remove deeper defects. But once you attack something with the rotary, you will leave rotary marks that will need to be removed and the PC is the fastest way to do it.
And just the same there are often cars that I encounter that don't need a rotary--and IMO, I'd rather take the safer route instead of something that may get me into trouble--you take more risk when using a rotary on an unknown finish.
Good luck to you.

Okay I know that pages upon pages has been written about this elsewhere, but I would really appreciate an executive summary.
Here's how I understand the situation, (correct me if I'm wrong).
The Porter Cable is identical to the G-100 except for the side of pad it is designed for, correct? The PC apparently vibrates more without a different balancer inside? I know it's nice to have a Meguiar's branded product, but the price difference is nice, too.
And what was the final verdict with that Griot's garage PC that caused somewhat of a buzz a while back? It seemed like a pretty good product from the initial reviews, but does it get the swirls out?
My car's so shiny I can see your car's swirls in its reflection.
when my pc breaks i will buy the g100 just for the warranty, or call Joe since he has 13 left
the final verdict for the griots, havent heard anything than Joe saying it has tighter oscillating action, which is better when you get near the moulding and trim

The final verdict is in, he decided the Griot's polisher is too gentle and takes to long to correct defects compared to the PC. That is bad IMO considered the PC is already limited in what it can correct, especially on hard paint.

Thanks a million you guys, I really appreciate it. I didn't want to be one of those people who asks information about things that are so widely available, but there is SO much information and discussion about these it's nearly incomprehensible. Thanks!

The G100 includes the backing plate and a foam pad.
You will have to buy those separately if you go the PC route.
