DA/300, now...

...I'm debating a few things.

I'm at the polish stage since I do have some hazing from the D300. I have my bottle of D301, or my new bottle of Ultimate Polish. Which? Does it really matter? I do have a few scratches around, but nothing I really expect to correct at this point, I had to work the surface pretty good with the D300 and have about 98-99% correction which considering the conditon I bought/started with, I'm way beyond happy.

Then, I can't decide when done with that, should I go with my old tried and true NXT 2.0 topped with M16, or my new bottle of Ultimate Liquid Wax and to that with M16? I've been debating this for about 4 days now, and have read too many threads trying to decide. I need fresh thoughts, or advice from someone who has tried the swap.

I'll be finishing a Deep Wedgewood Blue metal flake on my 2000 Explorer.

the truck is looking nice, good job!

i did a vehicle the other week with similar paint and was real happy with D300/D301 combo followed by UW, but having said that im going to be doing my own truck in the next few weeks, and was thinking of trying UP after D300. i have been thinking on that for a while now, and cant really decide which way i want to go. let us know what you go with.

Thanks- and that's my dilemma...

I'm hedging towards the D301 since I should give the system a full shot, but then I still have to decide what to top with.

I'm lucky that this is the biggest dilemma in my life right now. lol!

I would finish of the system with the 301 as they were both engineered to work in harmony with each other. Then you can just top with whichever LSP you prefer.

If it was me, I would use UP/M205 after D300 then top it off with your favorite wax.

i was in a similar situation. i bought ultimate polish and liquid wax and was gonna try to use it before i got the new DA MF system but the weather wouldnt let me. i kept telling myself "D301 is designed to be used with D300 BUT i really want to try out the Ultimate Polish & Wax". so then i decided that since my SILVER car is lightly swirled and i cant remember the last time i used a polish on it, that i would go the D300/Ult. Polish/Ult. Wax route. i got a few pics on a thread i made here http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48227 but it was cloudy and the pics arent the best but the car looks awesome.

but now i remember why i dont use polish on my car, it doesnt show very well on my silver car. next time i'm going to use D300 then D301 and Ultimate Liquid Wax to top it off. since you have a dark colored car then i would use Ultimate Polish and your choice of wax to get some nice reflections going on.

If you haven't seen the results of either it is going to be a guess as to which is best for your car.

Why not do a small test spot of each, or 50/50 a panel and see which you like best, then go ahead confident in your choice?

Your results so far look great.

It's all good.

The D301 should remove the haze from the D300 that's what it is designed to do.
The D301 has a built in wax (actually a polymer) at that point your done for 24hrs+.
After 24hrs+ has passed & D301 has cured, you can "top" it with a carnauba but why?
First check out how D301 performs. The DA MF system is designed to be two steps.

The M205/UP is also a good choice if you want to finish with a different type of LSP.
I have followed the M205/UP with Menz PO106/PO85 and kicked it up another notch.
I've have had great results with UW liquid. I've heard UW paste looks even better.
I guess I'm now going to have to buy a jar of Ultimate Wax paste and give it a try.

Ohhh...this constant quest to the perfect LSP! I like 'em all and they all look good.
I feel like I have enough LSP's on my shelf to do Air Force One! (maybe even twice)

Whatever you decide you have done a great job so far. Let us all know what you did.

While we have no issues with anyone experimenting with different products used in conjunction with the DA Microfiber Correction System, why not do a few test spots side by side on the hood:

1. Just D301/Finishing Wax
2. D301/Finishing Wax topped with NXT Tech Wax 2.0 and then M16 on half of that
3. D301/Finishing Wax topped with Ultimate Wax and then M16 on half of that


Now step back and see what YOU think, pick what YOU like. Then do that to the whole car.

Your results so far, though, are fantastic!!!

Thanks for all of the input! Helpful advice is always welcome. You're right, Mr. S., I can do that, I'll try all 3 on the hood. I can see it as a chance to stay on the DA...

Is the M16 really needed? It is a truck, but it will be spending the majority of the summer in the garage unless we're out on an excursion due to gas prices... 70 miles/day commute means I drive the Camry, not my truck.




Also- thanks for the results comments- I can't say enough about the DA system. By far and way the best thing I've used, and I've tried everything on my cars. Definitely 2 thumbs up.



By the way- here's what's on the other side of my garage...
