Re: Buffer swirl and Ultimate compund

Just read this tutorial http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7011 and the swirls are no where near this bad. I am wondering if I should try the ScratchX or the SwirlX. This is what is confusing me there are two or three products the SwirlX ScratchX and the Ultimate Compound. The tutorial used ScratchX to remove swirls. Shouldn't they used the SwirlX?????

Like I said the swirls are NO wear even remotely near that bad. Thats why I am curious if I should try the SwirlX or the ScratchX. I just don't want to over work the paint and clear. So next time I attempt this I should was and then apply one of these cleaners, and which should I use? I am kind of over the idea of the dealership doing it again.

I am good friends of the owner and the service department people. I just don't want them to mess it up more then it is. I am having a hard time attaching an image. It keeps asking for a URL and I need to browse to find mine.

There is a possibility they may not be able to correct it. If you are set on them correcting it, when you go back, you're going to have to have them look at it. If these buffer marks are only visable in the sun, at a certain angle, then you'll have to park the vehicle in such a way that you (as well as the Service Manager) will easily be able to see these defects. Make sure the vehicle is very clean when you bring it to them so they know you are serious. This way, you can easily point it out to them.

Or you can do it yourself. If you have some space where you live to store detailing supplys, and some space to work on the vehicle, I'd go that route. You will need a machine.

    Good luck

Clay bar will remove the wax. But if they do a good job I'd wait about 2 months for their wax to wear out naturally.

Do you have pictures of the hazy areas? It could be that you have holograms instilled in your paint from bad buffing techniques as already said.

If the detailer caused haze by using a machine polisher probably you need the same to correct it. DA polisher with Ultimate Compound may be necessary. Working by hand it's hard to remove machine caused defects.
I corrected my friend's BMW 3-series hood after body shop inflicted holograms and swirls into it with rotary buffer. I used G110 with 8207 pad and Ultimate Compound.

    Buffer swirl and Ultimate compund

Hello. I purchased a 2010 For Fusion black about a month ago and when I purchased the vehicle the salesman said it needed to be detailed interior and exterior and they would do it. Just noticed though that when the light hits the paint just right on a sunny day that the finish looks hazy. If you look up close the paint looks flawless and you don't notice the haze. Could this be buffer swirls?

I have called customer service and they told me to use the Ultimate Compound. So yesterday I hand washed the car with the Deep Crystal wash and used a microfiber mitt. I applied the Ultimate Compound to several panels and upon close inspection they looked fine but again when the sun hits it just right I can still see the hazy look on the finish. Am I using the right product? I put it on with a foam applicator using moderate pressure and wiped off with a microfiber towel using a separate one for the final wipe.

I am just kind of lost on how to fix this problem and to figure out what it is. I am just curious if I need to use a different product and how to go about it. Thanks for all the help....I'm gonna need it.
