  • Feedback of Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer - Spray

I wanted to get some feed back on the Meguiar’s Quik Interior Detailer Spray product. Has anyone had any discoloration issues with this product? I bought a spray bottle over the weekend and used it on my Volvo XC90. Tested it first on some of the plastic trim in hidden areas. Right of the bat it started to discolor the original tan color to a milky white color. Fortunately I had a bottle of the Meguiar’s Natural Shine Spray to go over and get it to come back.

Has anyone else had this issue? I followed the instructions, do not let dry. Dry with separate clean cloth. I use white micro cloths. It seems as soon as it is sprayed on (or applied using the micro cloth) it immediately discolors the trim to that milky white color. As I said, I’m able to restore the color using the Meguiar’s Natural Shine Spray. Though I shouldn’t have to go over it with that spray.

Due to this color issue, I have not used it on anything else in the vehicle. I’m looking for another product that will clean the interior without discoloring. I’ve always liked and trusted Meguiar’s products, but am surprised that this product is causing problems. If anyone has any feedback, please let me know.

    How about a picture?

What was the interior dressed with before using QID?

I won't have a picture available for about a week due to camera issues. I'm not sure what was used on the surface before since this vehicle was a used purchase.

Weird. I use it all the time and have never had a problem. I apply it to a microfiber applicator, then wipe it on. I've never sprayed it directly on the surface to be cleaned/protected.

At least you followed the directions and tested it in a spot out of the way first, just in case! Sounds like there could possibly be something else on the interior that it is reacting to? Have you tried wiping the dash and everything else down with a mild cleaner and water, and then reapply and see what happens?

Maybe the 'tan' colour is not the 'natural' colour of the trim. Maybe the lighter colour is the real colour and QID simply removed the previous dressing.

I say this because Natural Shine *restored* the original colour. Is the 'tan' coloured trim leather or vinyl?

This is highly unusual, especially considering QID is not a strong cleaner at all. Any updates on getting a photo or two of the effect?

Hmm. I have a 05 Volvo S60 and I have used QID Wipes and bottle sprayed onto a MF without any issues. I am willing bet to the interior pieces are the same.
