  • Were you a Die-Hard Zaino Fan before NXT?

    I know I was!

I just didn't want to mix things or spend all day building up layers.

What where your reasons for switching to NXT?

NXT is so easy to use. I have heard alot of great things about Zaino but why go to all the trouble of mixing etc when you can get the same results...

        Nope. I never tried Z.

I have loads and loads of products, and I like to try this or that, depending on my whim.

FOR ME, I get the best results from just about any Meguiar's product. You can't beat having a car-crazy family owned business with a huge research lab for producing the best products for this specific job. There are differences among the products, but they all share a common look, one of great balance and handsomeness.

So, I find myself using NXT, the new GC (which I really like a lot), #26, MPPP, ColorX, #1216, and #6... and every now and then I'll try something different. But I have no use for a lot of the boutique brands preferred by some people. I do like the Pinnacle waxes, but that's about it.

          Brilliant!

Anyhow, back to the topic........... I was not a "die-hard" Zaino user, but I did, and still do think it's a good product. I also think NXT is a good product. I guess that makes me the "out-cast" on both sides!

I have not tried Zaino so I don't have an opinion on it. It does seem that people
either love it or hate it. Why is that? I get great results using NXT and it may be the easiast product to use and the price
            is right.

I have used Zaino for about 4 years.....really like the product. It works well....but you have to mix stuff (zfx) and you can only get it by mail or through a zaino distributor. It does work well and my vette always had a great shine with Zaino.

That said, I really like Meguiars products. Here's why.

              Their products work very well!

Mike Phillips has been a great teacher and representative for Meguiars!!!!

I can get it locally and it's reasonably priced.

              Mike Phillips!!!!

I really like Meguiars as a company (Christian run business).

I have met Barry Meguiar - he's car crazy.

              Mike Phillips!!!!!

Did I say their products work well.....they definitely do.

My customers really like the results I get by using Meguiars products.

My vette looks great from using Meguiars polishes and nxt tech wax.

I think that about sums it up. And btw, Mike Phillips is one of Meguiars best marketing strategies.

Never tried Zaino but have used Klasse AIO for years and it's a great product that my experience is that it lasts longer than NXT but I find NXT a lot easier to use as I can do the entire car and let it dry and then buff it off. Klasse is applied with a moist mf towel, you do one small section at a time and then wiped off at just the right time, too soon and you take it off, too late and it sticks to the paint. So for ease of use, I switched over to NXT.

time and money were the biggest reasons why i switched.

Zaino products are expensive. I loved the car soap, but at 8 bucks for a 16oz bottle...it's just too much when you wash the car at least once a week. On top of that, you have to order everything online....and the zaino website charges 8 bucks for shipping.

I can go pick up a bottle of nxt anytime i want from my local auto stores.

Time-wise, everytime i zaino'd the car it felt like i had to clear my schedule for the entire weekend. All the prep and conditions had to be perfect. I can apply a coat of nxt on my car inside of 10-15 minutes, go inside and grab a drink and surf the internet for 15-20 mins while it dries, then go outside and easily wipe it off inside of 10 mins.

Plus, Mike Phillips and this website have contributed a lot.

Just to put in my 2 cents on wax longevity. I know Klasse AIO and probably Zaino lasts longer than NXT but that doesn't necessarily make it better. If the measure of lasting is to see how long it takes for water not to bead up then Klasse and probably Zaino win. But my experience shows that just because the wax is still on the car doesn't mean in it still shines at it's optimum. What I find is that the wax layer develops its own microswirls and imbedded particles over time. So a wax that lasted forever (if that were possible), would not stay shiny that long and would actually complicate matters as it would be harder to remove. For me, many natural caranuba waxes last too short, maybe 2 weeks. NXT for me lasts about 4-6 weeks and Klasses lasts about 6-8 weeks. But the real test would be which car looks best in a month, and for that I would give the hats off to NXT. At two months, even though Klasse is still on there it doesn't look good at all and reflects the swirls more. So for me, NXT last the right amount of time, not too long, no too short.

So, someone with a black car needs to totaly clay/polish their car, wax half the car with Zaino and wax the other half the car with NXT, get some people to judge which looks better at different intervals without knowing which half has which was, maybe once a week for 2 months.

With really good prep work, zaino was very had to beat back when i used it. Now owning even better prep products and a g-100, i'm sure it would be even better now. If i was a person who was entering my car in competitive car shows and had the time, i'd probably consider using it still.

But when a small bottle of z-2 is 20 bucks, plus the 8 bucks for flat rate shipping....that's twice the price of one bottle of nxt. So with that, it forces you to bulk up and make sure you buy everything at once so you don't waste money on shipping.

I can't say I was ever a di-hard fan of Zaino. I used it but felt it was not worth the money, effort and limited availability. Guess I was never a fan of mixing junk.

I've used a lot of different products over my detailing career spanning 45 years. I've had lots of favorites during this time. Currently, NXT is my favorite LSP.

                          Why? Glad you asked.

NXT looks as good or better than anything else I've used. It's inexpensive. It's readily available. It goes on and off easy. It's streak free and very reflective. Equal to the best wet look I've seen from any product. It looks great on any color, light or dark. It can be hand applied or by machine.

I've had excellent durability with NXT. I've recently become a fan of using the NXT booster product with every other wash on my personal vehicles. This combo keeps them looking freshly detailed all the time with little effort and cost.

About the only thing I wish NXT would do is allow me to apply it in the sun.

I'm anxiously awaiting the new NXT paste and the new Pro version of NXT. (any samples available?)

                          Great products Meguiar's.

The same can be said of NXT. It's sort of a shame to see folks cast aspersions on what is a fine product.

I have both Zaino and NXT, and have tried both a few times on various cars. And both will probably sit in my basement for years until the bottles dry up. They are both fine products, certainly quite different, and neither is one that I happen to use.
