How long does UQD last?

I'm new to concerned car care, but I really like UQD. As a noob I perhaps still violate product suggested use guidelines, like acceptable ambient temperatures to use UQD. I washed my car January 4th and then a week or so later had to wash the salt off by driving through a touchless car wash. I always carry UQD and microfibers for post salt-removal washes, so I don't know how long it lasts. It was about freezing this particular day, so the car wash warmed the car enough to use UQD.



Unfortunately, so in the winter around here the car's covered in salt pretty fast. Pretty good reflection for the middle of winter.




So far this spring, UQD lasts from rain to rain but the pollen is so bad and so much dust in the air I'm cleaning with UQD every other day or every day. No real test of longevity. The reflectivity and water beading holds up well during the rain itself.

Emig5m and wifpd4, there is a huge difference between mere visual appearance and actual protection. UQD may be fantastic stuff (and both of your vehicles are a testament to that) but it doesn't offer anywhere near the level of protection a proper wax does. And just because you can't see the protection of a wax doesn't mean it isn't there.

Now, we also understand that not everybody wants to, or has the time to, spend several hours detailing their vehicle. Both of you seem to have the maintenance part down extremely well, but UQD alone is not going to be our recommendation. UQW, on the other hand, is proving itself to be a very long lasting (for a spray wax) product that is easy to use, gives a great shine, won't stain vinyl, rubber or plastic trim and can be used on a warm surface in direct sunlight. You both might want to give it a shot, and maybe even use it while drying your vehicles. Just spray some onto a panel as you go to dry it, and work around the vehicle in this manner. Alternatively you could fully dry the vehicle and then go back with the UQW in much the same way you do with UQD - but it will provide more protection for a much longer time than UQD will.

I definitely want to pick up some UQW before my next wash. I was mainly concerned with my question from the other thread about minor hard water spotting/streaking removal (basically after drying I still have at least hard water streaking - I even tried drying with a leaf blower and although not as bad as hand drying, there's always some minor streaking/spotting left behind). Since normal wax like NXT seems to clean it up nice I would assume UQW would too.

I actually just heard about UQW the day I posted in here. I haven't been on any detailing forums in over a year at least, heh. Can't wait to try UQW! It rained this weekend (normally wash the vehicle on sundays) and also rained today so it might not be until next weekend until I get to try it.

I use UQD to clean my exterior windows after I wash. My windows will keep beeding water for about a week after use.

Mike, your points are well taken. Now that the weather has warmed up, there is a bottle of UQD and UQW in the car all the times. However, I still may be making mistakes. I often use the UQD first then follow with UQW. If the car is clean perhaps the UQD is unnecessary???
