Do you mean the bottle itself or the small (not wax) hydrophobic layer it leaves behind?

Re: How long does UQD last?

How long a layer of anything lasts on a finish will vary greatly based on the environment the vehicle is subject to. A car that sits outside 24/7 and never sees a garage or other cover parking will not last as long as a car that is parked in a garage when it's not driven.

The local climate and weather will also impact the longevity.

Honestly, I can not tell, because I always have a layer of wax on my car so it is hard to tell when the hydrophobic layer finally breaks down. I would think not more than a day or two but I could be off base here.

i always have wax on my car too, but im wondering how long it will last, since i feel like if i have it over my wax, it could perserve my wax a bit.

Not really sure how that would work. If you are looking to prolong your wax life, then use UQW. UQD is more of a daily use product to remove light dust while improving surface gloss. UQW is a booster wax used to preserve the base wax on your finish.

UQW will work with any wax on the market as far as I know.

Re: How long does UQD last?

Sounds like you're thinking about this product as something other than what it really is. UQD isn't designed to give long lasting protection, it's simply a mist & wipe product that contains some hydrophobic polymers that, with regular use, will provide a tiny boost in protection but noticeable slickness and terrific water beading. It's not a substitute for a wax, or even a spray wax.

If you're looking for something that's every bit as easy to use but will actually stick around for a surprising length of time (surprising for a spray wax, in any event) then try Ultimate Quik Wax. What's nice about this product is that you can use it on a warm surface in direct sunlight, it will not stain vinyl, plastic or rubber trim, and it does a great job hiding fine swirl marks. Same hydrophobic polymers as found in UQD but in an overall different formulation. It's actually very tenacious stuff, but still isn't a replacement for a real liquid or paste wax.

These are along the lines of what I was thinking. I think he is more interested in UQW.

I honestly can't tell a difference between using a "real wax" (NXT 2.0/#26, etc) over just using Ultimate Quik Detailer or Wax As You Dry with my weekly wash.... My truck sits outside 24/7 and I haven't waxed/polished it in over a year and just washing, drying, and a spray down of Ultimate Quik Detailer weekly this is how good it looks:

Honestly I am so lazy anymore but yet still take great pride in how my vehicle looks so products like Ultimate Quik Detailer are godsend to me. And I honestly can't tell that say a coat of NXT 2.0 lasts all that long on a vehicle that sits outside 24/7 anyway.... In other words, it's just not worth my time. I can even tell that UQD hides swirls just like NXT 2.0. I think the new Ultimate Quik Wax might be right up my lazy asses alley, lol. Seriously, look how shiny my truck is with just a Gold Class wash down and Ultimate Detailer wipe down....(vehicle is seven years old and sits outdoors 24/7 and is a daily driver)
