    Re: Attracts dust

I can not confirm or deny the science related to the anti-static charges, but this is what I can say. It was very interesting to see the dust settle on the section of the car that had wax on it versus the section that was unprotected.

A couple of months ago I had the same question and consulted the R & D department at Meguiar's. They said it is very difficult to give a black and white answer to this "Anti-Static" question you all have. Reason being is that all different types of dust molecules, being sand, dust, or pollen ect, have different molecular charges (positive or negative). Therefore, it impossible to know what type of molecular charge is landing on your finish. On top of that, it would also be difficult to know what type molecular charge are the panels on your car. Are they all the same? Can they be reversed by weather (I don't know the answer to those questions, but it is something to think about)?

This gets into a very in dept science debate that it way above me, but I wanted to share what R & D talked about.

Your picture sums it up in a nutshell. What a dramatic difference. Between your pics and Mikes explanation. It confirms what I always experienced. Thanks for clearing up the confusion.

How do you easily remove dust without washing the car everyday? Do I use compress air or some sort of car duster?

Depends how much dust. Anything other than very light dust and it's much safer to just wash the car IMO.

For light dust and seeing as you're in Australia, get yourself the Meguiars "Waterless" pack. It contains a Megs body duster, some Last Touch (labelled as "Waterless Spray Detailer" or something like that) and two MF towels.

Carefully and gently use the body duster to remove dust, then the LT with the MF's to clean the surface. It's the safest way to clean your car without soap & water.

You can pick up the Waterless pack from Autobarn. Best of all, LT is the only spray detailer we can buy here in bulk, so you can refill economically when you run out.

          Hope that helps!

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

            Re: Attracts dust

My dad had a gold caprice work car and used to wash it, wax it and then it would collect tons of dust so he would clean it and then pledge it. The car was beautiful, shiney and lemon fresh once he was done.
Having a black car is not a hobby, its a full time job!
