It seems most products I've tried (like NXT tech protectant) don't last very long on my vert top. I had been using mother's protectant preserves (and only because they used to sell a vert top cleaner and that's what it recommended), but I can't find it anymore (I know they stopped making the vert top cleaner, I emailed them about it). I've got a vinyl top, not cloth. I've been asked to help a fellow Mustanger with their very faded black top as well. Mine was pretty dull and dry when I picked up my car and it was only a year old (it was a rental, so I'm sure it wasn't conditioned)-this one is worse. It's a 98 and I don't think it's ever been conditioned, and barely cleaned (the car was so dirty when he bought it, there were streaks in the paint! We took care of that though).
ANYWAY, I got to thinking the GC trim detailer does a fantastic job on the black plastic cowl cover, mirrors, etc and I wonder if anyone's tried it on a vinyl top. I don't have a bottle handy, but am planning my "attack" on the 98 tomorrow in preperation for it being at a show in Sunday. I was thinking through each step to be sure I had all the products at home and didn't have to run out and get anything when I thought about the top and my nearly gone supply of protectant (that I don't want to share, lol). I know I've never seen the marine canvas products around (I would have picked them up when we had our boat), so I need something I have access to this weekend.
