I apologize for the late question, have you had any issues with 30psi or by letting the air turn the pad? I have my compressor regulated a little higher but clean every pad the same way as you. I've used the large pad conditioning brush but don't feel like it's adequate. Near the end of the season last year I started turning my machine on speed 1 while covering the pad face with a terry towel and was amazed at the amount of spent product coming off. It may take a little longer but I like this method followed by air vs. air alone.

When I cleaned out my MF pads, I was using around 70-80psi and held the nozzle open until it dropped to 30ish psi. There were times I wanted to clean my MF pads by air but my air compressor hasn't kicked on yet (very puny one) so I only had around 30psi. That didn't do anything at all.

Mine was set at 90psi but I think I backed it off a little, maybe 80psi now. It's an old Black Maxx 4.5HP 21 gallon compressor that my previous step-dad bought at Sam's. To give you an idea how old this thing is, he bought it a few years before he died in 2001 and that's when I got it. Amazingly it still works with no problems at all! I've been blowing my pads out with air since Dec '10 and my regulator is set at 90psi. I leave the DA turned off when I clean them and let the air spin the pad for me. Since I've been using the system (15 months) I've only had 2 pads fail, one of which was me using it outside the recommended range with an LC backing plate. I work these pads very hard! I usually only need 2 pads (D300 step) for an average sized car and they have been amazing since day one. I know there was a bad batch early on but that issue has been resolved from what I'm told and there are probably just a few bad pads floating around still.

Yeah, right. Most of my MF pads have been used and washed a dozen times, look like new still. One batch they all delaminated from the backing with very little use before they were even washed. I was asked if I still had the original packaging. No? Well have a nice day and thanks for calling...

Another tip to assist in m/f pad cleaning is while blowing off the pad , give the pad a quick mist of water before blowing it clean.I started doing this after reading a article from Kevin Brown about misting the pad while buffing a panel and was suprised at how clean the pad was. I also mist the panel very lightly before my last pass and its like adding additional product to the pad.Saves on product and keeps the pad cleaner which in my opinion is a win-win deal.
