  • HI-TECH YELLOW WAX, M26 Issues

Hello Meguiars community, So I am an avid user of Megs As well as Zaino! Now heres my latest issue.. I went out and got the M26 (to layer as I normally do over my zaino) and this time it looks all "marred" and differen.. What am I doing wrong, Too much product? Too little product, I used the cotton applicators I always use, but i actually LOST alot of the shine I had built up with another type of carnuaba.. Advice and tips for eliminating this isue are greatly appreciated!

Maybe you did not let the product dry long enough. This could lead to smearing which resembles marring at times. Try using foam applicatoes when applying M26 or any Megs wax. I do not know how Zaino works because I have never used a products from them. I would say to try the M26 using a foam applicator.

You may have used too much product and it could dry all the way leaving that seemingly marred surface.

Be cautious, sometimes too long of a curing period can make wax more difficult to remove. Just a heads up.

Sounds like it was not completely dried. Try the swipe test. Next time. Then remove the wax. Your shine will return.

I have never had a problem with wax drying for too long a time if applied in a thin coat. I have let a coat of GC Carnauba Plus sit on a black car on an 85 degree day in the sun (I know not the proper way but I have no garage to use and no shade to find) for 2 hours (went out to lunch) and it still wiped off easily (the day was about a week ago when we had record temps). If applied thin, it should always come off relatively easy, at least from my experience.

You could also wipe the paint down with a QD instead of rewaxing too.

Try a test spot of wiping down a section with a qd . See if that helps you out before you re wax the entire car.

Maybe. If you were to apply it very thick, & then let it dry for a period in which it were to harden, it could be difficult to remove. In such a case, I would either use some distilled water, or a combination of distilled water & instant detailer mixed (50 50) to help with removal. Moistening the hardened product will loosen it dramatically, & will subsequently come right off.

I wouldn't bother diluting the QD, especially since it isn't meant to be used that way and will cost more money to use distilled water.

Well, I just re-waxed the car with a foam pad (It's a Corrado and rather small) I then let it sit overnight removed with a fresh towel in the morning and bada-bing! No problems! I think I previously removed it too early... Thanks for the assistance guys!!

May read the "Swipe Test" thread. Explains how to check if the wax is ready to remove or not!

I don't think roushstage2 was berating you. He was just giving his opinion! He's a good guy with good advice.
