M6 vs M66 vs D151??

So M6, M66, and D151 are all AIO cleaner/waxes, what are the differences between them? All clean, polish, and protect...only thing I can think of is difference in cleaning ability and how long the wax protection lasts.

Anyone give me some specific differences? Which one cleans the best? Which one leaves the best wax protection? etc...

I have only used A-12, #66, #151.
I would say A-12 is the mildest.
#66 comes next.
#151 is the strongest.
This is rated on defect removing ability.

The waxes all seem to last a long time. However there are a lot of things that factor in to how long the wax will last for you.

Is the vehicle garaged kept. What is the vfehicle exposed to on a regular basis, etc.

Generally M06 Professional Cleaner Wax would be used as you would any other cleaner wax - light cleaning ability with good wax protection. Generally it's applied by hand or D/A but it can be applied via rotary. Rotary application is not terribly common, however, as this product is not generally used for serious defect removal, especially on modern, harder clear coats.

M66 has cleaning ability on par with M80 Speed Glaze so can therefore remove even moderate defects from the surface while leaving wax protection behind. It's quite a step up from M06 in that regard.

D151 takes M66 to a new level, introducing SMAT to the mix. Designed for use in high volume reconditioning facilities you can cut very powerfully when coupling PRC with a wool pad on a rotary and then finish down with either a foam polishing or finishing pad on either a rotary or D/A polisher if you choose.

I am really a big fan of M66, very easy to use whether its by hand or D.A, and produces excellent results.

How well would D151 cut if I'm only using a DA polisher? Probably take out mild to moderate swirls, but leave the really deep ones?

Perhaps. Depends a bit on the paint and how deep the really deep defects are.

D151 cuts very well, even with the PC. The trick is to use an orange LC 5.5" low-profile pad. I've gotten some amazing cut out of that combo for a great one-stepper.

You cant go wrong with 151. I have had some pretty good results with it. It works very well with the orange LC pad as well as very well with the green LC pad.

You cant go wrong with 151. I have had some pretty good results with it. It works very well with the orange LC pad as well as very well with the green LC pad.

I've tried D151 / green LC 5.5" low-profile pad on the rotary on an M3 and it worked great. I should try it on the PC sometime. I'm guessing it leaves a pretty nice shine.

With respect to Meguiar's pads, this chart is outdated. We have a black finishing pad (W9207) and a black fine finishing pad (WDFF7.)

Yes, and more...they could be used with all three of the products being discussed in this thread...M06, M66, and D151. It's all about the paint, the defects, and what the detailer is trying to accomplish.

I've had the best results using it with the green LC on my rotary. I was suprised at the cut you can get out of it and the way it finished out. I havent really used it that much on my DA but when I have it finished out very nicely but didnt cut as well.
