I have experienced the same conditions with #82 in even HDPE bottles with gooey stuff settling on the bottom and the carrier very watery and they will not remix properly even when shakened or stirred. I just poured it out and used fresh polish from the main bottle.

I bought two dozen LDPE dispenser bottles from American Plastics and they are no good for polishes !, most will list the type of plastic on the bottom of the bottles.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like what you're saying is that both LDPE and HDPE plastic bottles both cause problems?

Yes, your quite right the M82 I had was in a Megiuar's HDPE dispenser bottle when it became watery and residue settling on the bottom that can't remix when shaken or stirred. The residue will settle back on the botttom as a hard gooey colloid in about a day or so.

In LDPE bottles the problem is more acute with many other brand of products especially solvent {banana oil) and water based products which solvent can leech out and air leech in to cause molding. In HDPE bottles, the problem is less acute, but I seen many Meguiar's product like M21 form a gaseous vacuum in the bottle as the plastic dispenser bottle is constricted inwards after a week or so.

These are just my observations on the number of products that I store in dispenser bottles.

I've sent the link to this thread to our Packaging Engineer and asked to meet with him next week to discuss the issue you've brought up.

Mike, good to see Meguiar's is a proactive company when it comes to quality !

I posted a photo for a clearer explaination. Too bad I already poured out the M82 I had that had seperated.

In the photo you see 3 dispensers, M21 on the left with a vacuum(was less than a week that I opened the bottle to have it inflated again), #83 in a Meguiar's HDPE dispenser for over a year with no effect and #80 in a LDPE for over a year with no visual effect.

I had that vacuum in my M21 dispenser bottle too. EDIT:Just ran to check my supplies and my M82 in the M9912 dispenser bottle is now like water!!! I guess I have to call Rick at ADS now but will this happen again?

Just had my m82 gallon changed. Thanks. Visually as thick as m83. No more product splatter. Will observe for any changes. Also experiencing same effect on my dispensers.

I know its not in the Pro line however, I have had a similar seperation issue with ScratchX. After roughly six months of having it I went to use some on the boss' car and when shaking it it sounded watery. Poured some out and got two distinct substances to come out of bottle. Call Meg's and what I got was that somewhere between factory and my house it may have been exposed to freezing temps therefore the seperation. O.K I suppose. Checked local auto parts store and what they had on shelves sounded the same. Waiting to find some that doesn't sound watery.

One note before the thread gets far off topic. The new version of SX is supposed to be more "watery" so it can be used with a PC. Buy a tube, if it is separated, take it back and get a new one. There is no extra cost to you, besides going back to the store.

Initially when i bought it about 1year ago, it felt thicker. as thick as m83.
ccould it be an old stock? thanks in advance
You probably let it sit for too long.. it happened to my #82 as well... there was a solidified residue stuck to the bottom of the 12oz. dispenser bottle I use and the rest was very very watery... you should shake everything at least weekly or less. I didn't use #82 much for a year thus it sat a lot.

Mike care to comment on the best way to store products long term?

As Tyler stated, when ScratchX was reformulated for use with a DA Polisher one of the changes was that it was made to be thinner so it should sound more watery when you shake the tube. It should not look separated or watery, it should have a uniform antique white appearance.

Sure but there's no global answer as different geographical areas will have different temps on both extremes. If possible the best way to store product long term is in a controlled climate environment, a place where there won't be huge swings in temperature differences for example extreme cold and then extreme heat.

Getting the parents or the wife to let you keep your car detailing products in the house versus the garage may be a problem.

Also, if you are going to store products without using them for long periods of times, try to shake them periodically.

Yea I think the problem with mine was I didn't shake it and/or use it nearly enough for about a year. It was stored inside at room temp the whole time, so I know that wasn't an issue.

                        Thanks

I know the post is a little old, but I pulled out my #82 for use this week and it also was watery. I apply it directly to my polishing pad, and it soaked right in like water. I keep all my products stored inside my house.

I experienced the same thing with my year or so old bottle of #82 recently. I ended up just throwing it away.

                                Indeed.

I had two products replaced no questions asked after emails to C.S.

I also brought back my DC Step 1 to Schucks who honored it and gave me a replacement no questions asked.

I almost had my G100 replaced but had it tested at a MOL Open Garage just to be sure and it was operator error
