  • # 16 Is Dangerous...

I bet that got everyones attention. I just got hold of 2 cans of # 16, and even though the weather is not cooperating, I put a coat on the hood of my 91 Acura. I found it hard to keep my eyes on the road and away from the shine on the hood, and the way the tiny little beads of water just flew off the hood.....EYES BACK ON THE ROAD !!!!!

Now that the hood had dried, I can easily follow the air flow around the front of the car- very cool.

I can hardly wait to do the rest of the car and get a coat on the Saab.

One might say that #16 improves fuel mileage. At least, I always say that jokingly when my neighbours start haggling at me for cleaning up the van.

You left out licking the water off. Oh, wait a minute, that's my cat, not my car. Uh, I mean my cat licks himself dry. I don't lick my cat dry. Or my car. -PC.

Cool glad to see you are finding what you need in the way of #16. I have been using it on my SUV'S . got to love the beading ! also helps that a tin will last a long time.

                Re: # 16 Is Dangerous...

I just laid down 2 coats on my magnum for teh winter. My only real complaint with it is the dusting :/ Outside of that it looks outstanding.

So far I have put 5 layers on Magnum sized cars and the way I am going through the tin I have to be using it too thick, but I am not having to fight to get it off so I cant be too heavy.

Glad I have 2 tins of it.

Rob, if its 'dusting' you're applying it too thick. This has two negatives: 1) It dusts...(duh!) 2) You use too much much and waste a precious commodity.

With #16 a little goes a long, long, long way. Just spin the pad in the tin until some wax liquefies; then apply it in a circular motion until the pad goes dry. You'll find that the pad eventually gets loaded up and you'll hardly have to go back to the tin. You should be able to do a car without seeing much difference in the tin.

I waxed my friend's Pontiac G5 after DC1, #7, NXT and topped it with #16. I "refilled" the pad three times for the entire car-I love #16 and nxt. Far better waxes than GC and GC is NO slouch.

Also, every wax has it's place.

Ok I was applying with the PC and its seemed to drag out and not cover. I am way overusing it then. Ill try again in the spring.

How long do you guys let it sit on the car before wiping it off? Do ya'll do the entire car or a section at a time? I tried doing my entire tahoe awhile back and my arm almost broke off becuase when the stuff dries, it feels like concrete!

Most probably you were applying it too thick. Apply a REALLY THIN layer to the whole car. Then have a nice meal with a cold beer. After you finished with your coffee come back and wipe it off.

I have got to detail with you some time . Food, beer, top it with coffee, do you use two thin coffees or just one thick coffee. I find two thin coffees give better protection.
