    Re: First attempt

Just going to throw one more question in here if I can.

Even though I have put UC and UP on by hand and I now intend to use the polisher, should I be okay to give the paint another cut,how ever this time around I will not be using my Meqs stuff, but with the info I am getting here I am hoping I will get the nod with these products.

I would be using these in their respected stages.

If it is somewhat tongue in cheek to ask about another product, just say and I can post on another forum, thats not a problem.

    Thanks

    Andy

      Re: First attempt

Just to note, the UP and UC are fine by machine as well. But nothing wrong with trying other products either.

I dont think you'll need the first cutting step though.

        Re: First attempt

        Thanks Murr,
lets say that if did not use the first product and the results where not there, would I go and use the first product and the go and use the other two after,I was dubious about using the more aggresive one.I think the "less abrassive first" is embedded in my head.

          Re: First attempt

Yeah... and just do a test spot or panel, not the whole car, before checking the results.

              Re: First attempt

Maybe you can do a comparison between the Megs and Menz products for us? lol

I personally prefer Megs M205 to the SF4000, and given that UP is closely related to M205, it would be interesting to see a UP vs SF4000 comparo..

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

                Lol Davey,
If i was more conversant with products and the polisher I would do some form of comparison,at present I looked at my paint work and thinking,do I need to do it,too late now, every thing is purchased.

I now need to learn more, example, lets say after using the two finer compounds of the menz,do I put on my UP after,I know I have to wax it so I will use the NXT I have,if I do use the UP after do I do it by hand or with the polisher.

Down side to living in a small rural town, there is no one I know of that is into their cars, to go and have a yak to about it,if I was in the cities it would easy to contact someone on here and go around for some tuition.

So it is off to youtube.

                Cheers

                  Re: First attempt

I don't think you would bother with the UP if you're using the two Menz products (finishing with the SF400). You can if you want, but I doubt you'd be able to notice a difference. Best way to know is try a small test spot with UP after the SF4000 and see if you can tell the difference.

No reason why you wouldn't apply the UP with your DA when you get it.

If you're going to surf youtube, have a look for Mike Phillips' video(s) on how to use a DA buffer - they are very worthwhile viewing.

                    Re: First attempt

                    Thanks Davey,
will look at what you suggested,I am hoping that once I have done a section and feel confident it will be soldier on from there.

I suppose it was the same when I first used the UC,started of really small section first, then branched out to a bigger section once I got the feel for it.

Apprehensive and nervous are the key words I would use on how I feel,I keep asking should I go and get the paint checked with a paint gauge first, hate it when paranoia gets into me,always asking myself, what if.

Appreciate the info Davey every thing helps.
