  • This was a challenge.

I got a call from a potential customer. He told me that he had a 1998 Ford Mustand with 240,000 miles on it and already been to a few other detailers including a major dealership. All telling him that it was impossible to get any kind of shine back to the paint. I told him I would take a look at it and see what I could do. After looking at the car I saw that it was heavily oxidized and had clearcoat failure. He had spray painted parts of the car. It also had some body damage in various areas. I did not do anything to the bumpers because he said he was going to take them off to have them painted. I just focused on the main body. Yhe car ended up ok. Definitley far from a show car.

    Process:

UC via rotary to remove as much of the oxidation as i could. Then went over the car with 2000 grit paper. Next hit the car with M105 via rotary on a double sided wool pad. Polished the paint with M205 via rotary on a LC white pad. Topped with M21.

    After:

        Nice work Tracy!
Nothing like the satisfaction of bringing one back that's been pronounced hopeless.
How did that nasty rear spoiler come out?

Thank you for the nice comments. I just wish the after pics would have came out clearer. The paint came out much nicer than it shows. The pics seem really fuzzy.

That's quite the remarkable turnaround! It really is amazing what you can do when you know what you're doing!

Yes, but then again the customer wasn't really expecting a show car, was he? But it also no longer looks like a 15 year old beater with almost a quarter million miles on it. Fantastic work all around!!
