  • Wet looking G6

This week-end detail, my mother’s 2008 Pontiac G6 GT. Exterior only, interior will be done soon.
The car was completely repainted in 2009 and some part have a lot of orange peal, like the back bumper. The paint has a lot more metal flakes than the original paint had. But like you will see on the after pictures while it is very shiny and wet, it doesn’t have that deep shine and reflection.

Washed rims, tires and wells with Shampoo Plus and APC
Washed with Gold Class, the jambs were done as well
Clay with Meg’s blue clay with a mix of half Last Touch / half water as a lube
    Rewashed with Gold Class
Dried with an Absorber and a “The Dehydrator” towel.
#105 on an orange LC pad via PC for a few scratches on both bumpers
Ultimate Polish on a white LC pad via PC on the whole car
One coat of Gold Class Carnauba Plus wax
One coat of #26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax to make the flakes pop
    Trims got Ultimate Protectant/Black
    Tires and wells got ASD
Rims got a coat of Ultimate Wax
    Windshield was treated with Aquapel

I must say that the paint now doesn’t even look the same. It has a very wet look and the flakes really pop, thanks to #26 Wax. Ultimate Polish did a good job at removing the light swirls the car had.

    Before :
Sorry the sky was cloudy on Saturday morning.

    All done.
Those pictures were taken at almost sunset on Saturday evening.

Looks like I missed a spot on the back fender. I removed it right after the pictures.

    Scratches are gone.

Now pictures from Sunday morning, after she drove 20 miles to work on Saturday evening.

And a mini-detail I did on Sunday morning.
2011 Volkswagen Gold TDi with only 6080 km. Owner only wated to have the car washed and waxed.
I washed with Gold Class and waxed with Gold Class Carnauba Plus, then #26.

After pictures only as the car was pretty clean to begin with.

It looks super nice/ super wet. Well done.

        M105/ UP/ GCCP/ M26 - the paint looks better than new.

        Is there an orange peel?

The Golf came out pretty good as well after the quick detail.

Excuse me, who made the black Corvette dripping wet couple weeks ago, David ?

I agree, that red looks fantastic.

                That red looks wet!!

It's amazing how dark colored cars can look so good when properly detailed.

                Great job!

                    Re: Wet looking G6

This detail took me only 6 hours. The color is more a burgundy than red.
I am still what we could call a week-end warrior, semi professional, by no mean professional.

Thanks for the comments. It means a lot for me.

Hey nice work on the G6! It looks like it pretty much got a brand new paint job. I plan on detailing my G6 as soon as I get my grit guards in the mail. Any G6 related pointers? In terms of tricky body parts etc. (although mine is a coupe)

Once again, awesome job! Looks incredible!

Oops, sorry trouble with semantics today...

That color which appears to be in the color range of, family of and shading of the color red....looks awesome!!

Week-end warrior, semi professional, professional....it still looks great (and professional)!!

(and yes Greg, I've been standing on the corner holding a cardboard sign that says, "will detail red cars for the sheer joy", but no takers!! I'm envious of what Pursuit has accomplished!!)
