  • It's been a busy summer, part 1

First, I don’t post a lot here on MOL, but I’m here to read and learn everyday or so in the detailing season.
I began detailing cars for my family a few years ago. Then a neighbor asked me to detail her car. With work-of-mouth I then had about 6 or 7 cars to wash and/or detail every summer until now. This year, it is amazing ! I have about 25 cars done this summer, mostly basic wash and wax, but also a few complete detail. I also have about another 5 to 6 cars on the ‘’to do’’ list. All work is done at my home under the car-top.

I am an accounting-assistant, so I only do detailing on the side. No need to say that I’ve had a busy summer so far. My own car used to get washed at least once a week, but this year, it’s more like once very 2 to 3 weeks as time allows.

Here is part 1 of the work I had done this summer. I will post my most interesting details.
I haven’t work on high-end cars yet, but I can keep dreaming !

2008 Pontiac Wave sedan (8966 km)

      3) 2008 Ford F150 Lariat 4x4 (39560 km)
Customer just bought it used at a Ford dealer a few day prior. Looked good from what you can see on this picture.

But once you get closer, it doesn’t look at good…

Once I got the paint cleaned it was even worst. Looks like fillers were used to cover the swirls.

      Process :
Rims, wells, tires cleaned with a mix of NXT soap and APC, washed with NXT and APC to remove the fillers), clayed, polished the whole truck with #105, then #205, 1 coat of #7 Show Car Glaze, 1 coat of Gold Class Carnauba Plus wax, spray #135, Ultimate Protectant on all exterior trims, Armor All Extreme Shine tire gel on tires, ASD on flaps and wheel wells, quick vaccum, glass cleaned with NXT, quick wipe down with Quick Interior Detailer

      Afters :
Sorry, it began to rain once I was done, but the client was in awe in front of this truck.

This was a complete mess. I was told to do what I can in the interior, but not spend too much time there because that the truck it is used on road construction and will get dirty all over again.

        Process :
Rims, wells and tires cleaned with APC, washed with Ultimate Wash and Wax, ASD on trims, flaps and tires, vacuum, glass cleaned with NXT, plastics cleaned with water and some APC+, no dressing as per customer request

                    2008 Cadillac CTS 4 (56450 km)
Trashed car, it looked more like a 200 000 km car than a 50 000 one.
They took over this lease in spring on 2009 and I don’t believe that they cleaned the car since then.

Wheels, wells and tires cleaned with APC (didn’t had Wheel Brigthener in hand, but would have needed it!), washed with APC, clayed, 1 coat of NXT wax, vacuum, glass cleaned with NXT, plastic and seats cleaned with water and APC+ then dressed with Quick Interior Detainer, ASD on trims, Armor All Extreme Tire gel on tires
The paint would have needed to be polished, but customer didn’t want to.

                        13) 2009 Toyota Venza AWD (27773 km)
Only had the car for 3 hours. The main goal was to remove the heavy brake dust on the sides and back of the car.
Wheels, weels and tires cleaned with APC, washed with NXT, I then tried to clay, but it was not fast enough for the time I had so I tried the « Fall out Liquid Cleaner » by BodyPro that I had in the closed, but never used it. It made all the brake dust come right on in seconds. I then rewashed with Gold Class soap, 1 coat of #21 Synthetic Sealant, ASD on tires, weels and trims

                        No before of this Venza.

                        Afters :

Part 2 of the pictures to come in the next few days.

                          Nice work Pat.

Too bad you don't spend a little more time posting on the forum, you certainly have a lot to offer. Thanks for taking the time to put all of this together for us.

                              All beautiful work!!

Quick question, I noticed dealership names on the front of cars? Is that common in Canada or something? I'd be annoyed if I had that on the front of mine
