I was able to attend Mike’s detailing 101 class on Saturday Jan. 30 and I learned a lot. Mike is a wealth of knowledge, but I also learned a lot from some of those attending the class.
I have 5 vehicles that I want to kick up a notch.. a 66 Chevelle
After the class I placed my order with ADS for all the product I need to start and the G110 v2 DA.
I could start with my wife’s Beamer, but if I screw that up I will be sleeping in the garage… So I am starting on my 98 Chevy. A good vehicle to learn on and it certainly needs the attention. I bought it new in 98, it has 148,000 miles and has lived outside in the dessert sun all its life.
I took a few pictures after I washed it. I applied only one thing I learned from class. Four glugs of Gold Class Car Wash shampoo in a bucket of water is too much. I used 1 oz per gallon and I had lots of suds.
I did use my two bucket method, one bucket for the wheels and the other for the body. Mike I promise once I have clay bared the truck; it will be your 2 bucket method from then on.

And after Ultimate Protectant

Wheels after washing

Wheels After Hot Rims and Hot Shine

In case you are wondering.. it was 72 degrees here and slightly overcast. A great day to work on the car and I did not need to worry about the water freezing before I dried the truck.
I was happy with the results I got in an hours work.
This weekend I will start with clay bar and Ultimate compound. Just a small area, to see how it turns out.
