I was wondering when this was going to come up. Nice job explaining it, Michael.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Mike...i always thought a pass was an up and down movement of the buffer or a side to side movement of the buffer.....maybe i was wrong this is where i got my info on a "pass" and thats what i was going by

OK, and we can understand the confusion. In the image below (taken from the thread you linked to) there is mention of the "First set of overlapping passes in a side to side direction", which is most likely what you're referencing. It's one of those semantics things where, yes, those are passes of the buffer over the paint. But when most people are talking about a how many passes it took to correct a paint defect, they are usually talking about the group of passes as a whole.

Sort of "pass" being both a singular and plural word, it just depends on what you're referencing.

Great improvement! I'd say it's good to go for a daily driver.

As for suggestions, I'd paint the wheel wells, frame, and rear diff semi gloss black.

Looks pretty good. Most Evo and STi used in amateur rally races are in much worse conditions than that.

Nissan paint is on the harder side compared to Honda and Toyota. It is, however, very workable even with just a DA and the right pad. If I recall, my 1996 Nissan Maxima had slightly harder paint than my 2000 Nissan Maxima. My Infiniti M45 is even harder. My last attempt with SwirlX and a white pad achieved ZERO correction on that paint lol (I didn't have any cutting pad at the time)...
