    Old Orange GMC Sierra 2500

Im not 100% sure on the year but I know its gotta be at least twenty years old. This truck was not in too bad of shape. The owner had it completly restored a couple years ago but the paint still looked pretty dull and could definitly use some attention. Nothing major, just a lack of shine and some light swirls/toweling marks. This truck had a clearcoat as well. None of my pads turned orange.

The first thing I did was pull it out into the driveway and wash it with good ole Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner. After this I inspected the paint and there were very little bonded contaminants. But a good claying was still in order on the overspray that was present of the bedside. So I clayed it with the Smooth Surface Clay Kit and Last Touch Spray Detailer.

I did a test spot with #80 - Speed Glaze and #66 - Quick Detailer (Cleaner/Wax) on my G110 and I went with M66. While it wasnt perfect, it did remove a lot of the swirls and light hologramming that was present on the hood by the previouse detailer. M66 is also rated the same as M80.

I was ahead of schedule so I slapped on some #21 - Synthetic Sealant 2.0 on the truck real quick.

I dressed the tires with Gold Class Endurance High Gloss. The wheels were protected with Ultimate Quik Wax. The glass was cleaned with NXT Generation Glass Cleaner and the chrome was treated with Hot Rims Chrome Polish and #40 - Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner was used on the trim. I did the interior but did not take pictures of it. Tomorrow I will take some if you want.

Looks great!! Is the #66 your usual go to product? I have noticed you seem to favor it. Have you ever used #6? How do you feel the compare to each other?

    Thanks,

    John

It depends, for one step corrections, then yes. But for a two or three step, usually no. It all depends on what I am being paid to do and what I am trying to accomplish.

This truck was repainted a few years ago. But in that few years the finish slowly seemed to get a little dull according to the owner. Maybe because there was about two inches of dust on it when I went to wash it.

I was guessing it was probably part of your "basic package" but then again it could have been that good!

          Thanks for the response,

Nice. Is the paint on that truck of lacquer?

And is that a huge playground in someone's front yard? Holy cow!

not sure what it is made of, Im guessing its a clearcoat since it was not single stage.

                    Hey Nick.
The truck looks fantastic. Looks like a step back in time when it was brand new. Excellent work as always.

That is one good looking truck. I have always liked that body style and would love to have one of those old step sides.

                          Nice job.

                          Truck looks good.

I'd say that is a mid 80's maybe 1985 or 1986 truck. About 15 years ago I had a 1978 GMC step side for a short time.

The truck looks great! You said it was restored not long ago, is the paint clear coat or single stage now?
