Hey guys, haven't been on here in a while! Just thought I'd share this with you.

I asked mom what she wanted for mother's day a while ago, and she answered, "I want my truck detailed!" Okay, sure... I can do that. I'd forgotten just how large it was compared to the Foz (Forester) and my truck.

It turned into quite a project, and was done 100% by hand, using Meguiars products. I didn't have the cash for a DA polisher, so I used good-ole elbow grease instead (with plenty of ibuprofen... lol).

    Here's what I used:

    NXT TechWash (two-bucket set-up)
    Smooth Surface Clay kit
    Ultimate Compound
    NXT TechWax 2.0
    Ultimate Quick Detailer
    Hot Shine tire spray (aerosol)
    Meg's Microfiber towels
    Meg's foam applicators

It's not perfect by any means... I'm not a pro. The Victory Red just looks so amazing though, even with 250,000 miles on the clock. Unfortunately, there's a bit of CCF forming over the front windows, and on the roof. *tear* I guess it's about time... this thing has never seen a garage.

    A couple test spots:

On to the Before/Afters! These are unedited, except for resizing for the web. All of them are in order (before, after).

Questions and comments are always appreciated, I'm always looking to improve my skills!

We used to, back in the day. We moved out here to TN after 9/11 (closer to family). Really miss it.

Thanks! She's still in awe, and says she's going to have to build a garage to put it in. Kinda late for that, I'm thinking.

Looks good for having to do all that by hand. Nice job! How far away from Powell are you? Don't see too many Tennesseeans on MOL, LOL!

That is seriously impressive work by hand. That Suburban probably looks better than the day you bought it.

Thanks guys! It's really rewarding to see the difference.

I don't quite remember how nice the paint was when we bought it new (I was 4 years old at the time!) but I do remember my mother outside all the time detailing it, and modifying it! It's all back to stock now though. That truck has been all across the country, to 49 of the 50 states (missing Hawaii). I'd say it's had a pretty good life, we plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off. It has a lot sentimental value, and too little monetary value.

Shoot, I grew up with this thing! It's like a sibling!

Funny how cars can mean so much to people, eh?

About 6hrs away, it appears. I'm right around 100miles east of Memphis, in the middle of nowhere.

At least I don't have to worry about door-dings.
