The Generals B17 Bomber, "FUDDY DUDDY" polished perfect!
Re: The Generals B17 Bomber, "FUDDY DUDDY" polished perfect!
I'm sure everyone wants to know...
- How many people helped?
- Number of buffers (and brands)?
- What pads (and quantity)?
- Which products?
- How many hours invested?

That is amazing... I cannot begin to imagine how much work that was... I bet once you got started, you thought, "What did I get myself into..." I bet you went through a ton of towels!

I agree! Just how do you go about ordering supplies for a job like that? Do you order polish by the drum(55 gallons at a time)?
Great job guys!

In short, It took 12 polishers, 1 pad washer(that's all he had time to do) 2 supervisors, 86 pounds of polish, 180 wool pads,6 cases of energy drinks, a combination of Dewalt, and Chinese buffers(the light ones are great for under the wings) and 5 days to bring it back to better than it's original shine. Pads were made for us by Lake country, some of the polish was Rolite, the rest was custom made for us.

Awesome work, Joe, as always.
I had the good fortune to visit the Lyon Air Museum a few weeks ago and talk to the guys there about some follow up maintenance on this and other aircraft, knowing full well you and your crew would be coming in later for this job. These are awesome old war birds and you guys did them proud - there is a ton of history to be found inside these planes and it's quite an experience to be able to get inside and all around them. Amazing stuff.
Out of curiosity, what metal polish did you use for this and the other plane you did?
Again, great job. I can't wait to get back over and see the finished results in person.
