  • Quik ambulance detail

    Hey everyone!
Yesterday was a slow day at work so I freshened up our 2nd due ambulance. It was already in decent shape since it only goes out maybe twice a week.
I cleaned her up a couple of months ago for a funeral detail using the clay kit on the cab, DC1, cleaner wax, NXT 2.0, GC Endurance, and Hot Rims Mag & Alum polish for the dimond plating and chrome.
This time around I used QD since there was only some light dirt/dust on the lower half of the body, GC trim detailer, Hot Rims AWC, and UC for some nasty scratches on the back door....had to stop 'cause I couldn't see the scratches well with the light I had to work with.
I was shocked to see how well the tires looked after 2 months, looked as if I just put the endurance on. I was even more shocked after cleaning the rims with the AWC!
    Anyways....onto the pics.......enjoy!

Thanks Tuck! The diamond plating was a real pain, very dull and water spots/etching galore! It took me about 3 days to bring the shine up since it hasn't seen polish in it's existance....7 years. Theres still alot of etching but it does look 10 fold better! I forgot to add that I used PlastX on all the lights.
Thank you Ganesa! It's all done by hand, doing small sections at a time in case we get a call, and we did a few times during the first detail.

I was hoping to get a call so that I could show her off at the hosptal but no such luck (not wishing harm on anyone!). Shortly after I got done, our first due rig came back from getting inspected and doing a transport. That one is nasty looking right now....the weekend crew put some tire shine (not mine and not from Meg's) on the dirty tires!!!!
I'll have to take some before and after pics next week.

The ambulance looks great!! You did a fantastic job.

If I were a patient, I'd love to be transported in such a nice looking vehicle.

sounds great, detailing waiting for the emergency call...
and it must have been fun and easy just doing it by hand as the surface is just horizontal and vertical flat.. hehe

Great work on the ambulance. Looks great for a 7 year old. Way to go.

                    Thanks everyone!

The rigs are fun to clean but when your cleaning and ya get a call you gotta haul but to finish what your doing and get out on the road.

Carfire, they're twins 2002 Hortons. Identical except one is cleaner then the other.
We try to switch out every month are two, we've been running our first due rig since December 'cause my partner took out the bottom mirror on the drivers side. I like the second due better, rides nicer and the airhorns are louder (1st due horns die in about 10 seconds.....getting that taken care of!).
Claying is rough on the hood and the front of the box...especially around the lightbar.
The funeral was for a sister company that supported us in our own LODD 2 years ago.

J.A. These rigs are babied, all the vollies are amazed on how clean they are since I've switched to paid full time. 7 years is a long time for an ambulance, I won't even touch the rigs (with my personal stash) at my other company 'cause they are beyond nasty. This rig here has 58k on it, a 2002 rig at my other company has at least +175k but then again they run constantly....10 to 16 hours a day!

Benz, that's a great quote! Although there are times I'd rather take the hearse.

That's really interesting - not a vehicle you'd expect to see getting a full detail.

                              Nice work though!
