  • Toyota Hilux - Minor Paint Correction

    Hey ya'll

Just wanted to share some light paint correction done on my hilux.
Brief overview on the car - My car has been previously detailed but a recent incident had made me sent the car to the workshop (one of the timing belt's pulley jammed up so car died on the middle of the highway and it was raining! ). Cost me around RM2000 (USD606...) to fix the whole lot plus with other minor fixxies.

Plus they so gratiously WASH my car FOC Plus the car sat outside the hot sun for 4-5 days and was only pushed back in the locked garage at night for safekeeping.

    Process:

    Wash
Wash back the car with Shampoo Plus via 2BM method.
    QD using Last Touch

    Minor Paint Correction
Treated wiht only D151 with maroon and yellow pad via RB 1k-1.5k rpm
** Just wanted to try out the D151. No wool pad was used **

    LSP
    #21 2.0 by hand

    Time Taken
    1.2 hrs or so

Some quick pictures for you to enjoy -

So here are the 'gifts' they gave to me

One very long scratch on the front hood

swirls, water spots, long scratch and marring (like glue/grease that Shampoo Plus and SDeg cant remove)

Close Up: Few swirls from washing with dirty rag and also water spots (rained and the car's front hood was protruding out of the garage)

    here's another shot

    and another....

AFTER USING D151 only with YELLOW AND MAROON PAD (6.5")

Not perfect but its sure is better than the befores

    and another after shot..

    and another lol

    again another one

majority of the defects were gone but deeper defects were still there. The long scratch was too deep - so its not gone, only less obvious

And its all thanks to MEGUIARS D151 for a quick paint correction session.

    Thank you for viewing

Comments or suggestions are most welcomed.

Thanks for the kind words guys.
BTW, I'm really pleased with the D151. It was relatively easy to remove the defects.

Just kinda sad the workshop wasnt so careful on the paint.

Sorry for the "free gifts" they left you... that one on the hood made me groan out loud when I scrolled to it!

I always tell any shop I'm at that I do not want them to wash or wipe off my vehicles. I say, "just leave the greasy fingerprints"... as you know (and got pictures of), no matter how well intentioned a shop may be, they will not treat my vehicle as well as I will.
The only reason some people get lost in thought... is because it is unfamiliar territory for them.

Hey great job no the Hilux.

Never seen that color around here.
            That's a 3.0 Turbo Diesel right?

@voices, I've told them but the message didnt properly go to the rest of the staff (i think - communication breakdown among staff) You should have seen the rag they used. Its all uisng the same rag with the same single icky bucket. Just pour some kinda low quality soap and wack on customers' cars.

@francis - its a 2.8 diesel naturally aspirated. Soon to be modified to 3.0 turbo charged - maybe boosted to 1bar.

I like my Hilux's like this:

                              Hi Tim,

                              Looks great! Nice work!

Could you add a profile shot so everyone can see what the entire truck looks like?
