The pictures, process, and information in this thread is priceless. A huge thank you to ADHD and Mike. It is something that should be read over a few times.

ADHD: Great job on the Bimmer! I detail 8-10 pre-owned BMW's per month (100+ each year) for a dealer here in Kansas City. Most are coming off BMW Leasing and have stone chips on the frontal area.

If you just have a few chips, you'll need some tools and process to fill them correctly.

                      1. For individual chips, I use a Q-Tip and wax remover and apply to the chip area. Allow to dry or wipe with a clean microfiber.
                      2. I use a rubber squeege with a beveled edge and a syringe with the touch up paint (I'm a diabetic..so I have a daily supply).

                      3. Apply a small amount of touch up to the chip and "level" with the rubber edged squeege. If it is deep (all the way to the metal), you will have to do this more than once to build up the paint to the level of the OEM paint.

                      4. To remove the excess touch-up paint, I mix a small bottle of Reducer + Linseed Oil (approx. 50/50) and, using the square edge of the squeege and a paper towel soaked with this mixture, I wipe the area. By using a the rubber edge, my fingers are not digging down into the chip area and it will remove the excess paint.

When I'm satisfied with the results, apply a coat of your favorite Meguiar's product. At the shop I use #26.

The end result is you won't have a "blob" for chip filling and it will disappear into the OEM paint.

                      Good Luck to You Sir!

[quote=Mike Phillips;148375]Just a comment on the use of the W-7006 pad with the dual action polisher...

This is not a recommended procedure by Meguiar's because in most cases it will haze the finish. Yes it will remove the defects but it leaves the finish looking haze. The end result, Meguiar's products hazed the paint. The problem then is the person forgets Meguiar's products removed the defects, (we fixed the problem, we removed the defects), and now is upset because the paint is hazy.

hmmmm, you're being really hard on yourself here...

if you put 80 grit sandpaper to your car,,,it will scratch it....SO,,,do you go out and blame the sandpaper manuf'tr ???

compounding, and thus (usually hazing) is a pretty much expected by-product of this trade,,, i know i dont have to tell ya that...but just being on the other side of the fence!! way over here

                            Re: My ATTACK on BLACK!!

I think that the end results of this proces and the explanation in regards to cutting pad were great. The car has some pop to it. Looks wet. I have a question about the process. You state after applying the #21 YOU GENTLY WASHED THE CAR WITH GOLD CLASS. I thought that for best results with the #21 you are to try to keep the finish dry for at least 12 hours. To let the polymers setup fully. By washing the car was the #21 still just as effective?
