  • My ATTACK on BLACK!!

Well as most of you Know JET BLACK (shwartzII) Is one of the most beautiful colors Bmw has to offer!!

Yet its probably the hardest to upkeep as well!!

Given all my options of other colors I actually ordered a SG but couldnt resist the JB..sometimes I regret getting the black until now.
I have done alot of research on detailing products and there uses and how to use them in conjuction with each other so u get the best protection/durability!! Ive used pretty much everything in the book!! Zaino has great Durability but lacks in shine IMO and has only a few products to choose from..

I feel know with my knoweldge of products and paint care No color should be a problem to take care of..

Ive been to alot of detailers and got all about the same opinion on my car!! My car has tooo thick of an uneven clear coat causing and leaving severe orangepeel and lots of scratches due to poor washing and who knows what else!!

ALL reccommend WET SANDING!! I havent broke down to that yet for as long as i keep getting the results with what i used this week ill be happy!!
    So know for

    MY ATTACK ON BLACK!!
    PRODUCTS: MEGUIARS PROFESSIONAL LINE
    1. Meguiars G100A DA orbital
    2. Meguiars #83 with a 7006 pad (maroon)
    3. Meguiars #9 Swirl remover 2.0 with 8006 pad
    4. Meguiars #7 Show Car Glaze with 9006 pad
    5. Meguiars #21 Synthetic Sealant with 9006 pad
    6. Meguiars #26 Yellow Wax applied with applicator pad.
Ive always used the 2bucket wash method but never used the grit guards till this week.. Ive noticed a huge amount of dirt in the bucket compared to before im quit impressed with how a stupid peice of plastic at the bottom helps soo good!!

so I washed my car with a good mixture of dawn/water let it sit on the car to ensure most of the wax removal!! then I dry with the ABSORBER..
FIrst is the #83 which is a medium compound and I used it with the cutting pad which left a good haze and dullness in my paint..So then I used the #9 which is a light compound/polish to get the paints shine back..it really brought the shine back and u could really tell what was done and what wasnt thats for sure!

So then I went with a pure polish #7 to really bring out that wet look...I then used #21 one coat of it let it dry and removed it all.my paint felt great at this point and i wanted to test its durability and wanted to ensure i got all the residue off so I washed it with Gold Class car wash really lightly..I was impressed already with the beading everywhere as it was but I wanted to ensure the durability and see if I can get the last bit of POP out of it..So i dryed it off with the absorber and put a nice layer of #26 on it and let it dry for a good couple hours this time!! I removed all the wax and was amazed how deep the shine was compared to just the previous coat of #21!!

so im sure you all want to see how this blacky turned out!! well heres a couple pics!

Nice work and a beautifil car! You could have skipped the Dawn wash though. The #83 would have removed all the wax on it's own.
        Black......the ONLY color!

NO thank YOU!!! although i never made it down to a open garage I think i finally figured all this stuff out after researching your posts left/right!!
I really appreciate alll the info you have here on this forum and your video taught me alot as well.

Thanks everyone for your comments and yes i did end up using the 7006 maroon pad!! i tried as hard as i could with the 8006 and no luck!
I did a test spot on my original rear bumper before i actually did it to the car and Holy wow i was impressed!! YES it does leave hazing and I wouldnt recommend doing it unless you fully understand what your getting yoursellf into for it know becomes a huge long drawn out process..It was well worth it for me due to the fact i got all the fine scratches out of my front fender the spot that really frustrated me!!
Know my next project will be to fill in couple rock chips on my hood. any advice would be appreciated! I have purchased the exact paint and clear coat for my car even a precise needle kit to fill in chips!! i just need to research a bit and ill do it! I reasearch everythying before i buy or do it!!

PICS EDITED!!! sorry about the crappy resolution before guys I didnt realize they were double shrunk!

What kind of hazing did you experience with the 7006 and 83 on the g100? Was it severe? Was it ok to where it could EASILY be removed with 83 on an 8006? I'm interested!

NO the hazing was not that severe! it basically just made the paint a bit dull to look at. yes u could see the difference but as soon as i hit it up with the #9 with a 8006 it came right back and better than it was before. THis processs did make my detail go alot longer. I would only recommend doing it as last resource once u fully understand how to use the PC,and u have the time and other products to do it right!

great work! M truck is the carbon black. It certainley is a tricky color in Florida, but I love it.
                      I need a g100 myself.

This has been my experience as well. I can certainly understand why it's not a recommended procedure from Meguiar's point of view, but working within the limitations of the G-100/7424 sometimes you just have to be creative!! Yes, it requires quite a bit more time to achieve optimum results, but if you don't have a rotary, or the skill to use one, this is probably the only solution sometimes.

                            Re: My ATTACK on BLACK!!

Just a comment on the use of the W-7006 pad with the dual action polisher...

This is not a recommended procedure by Meguiar's because in most cases it will haze the finish. Yes it will remove the defects but it leaves the finish looking haze. The end result, Meguiar's products hazed the paint. The problem then is the person forgets Meguiar's products removed the defects, (we fixed the problem, we removed the defects), and now is upset because the paint is hazy.

They forget that polishing paint is a "Process", and they're not finished after the cleaning step,. We've had people stop at this cleaning step, "Panic" and then either call Customer Care or post their panic problem to the entire world on some discussion forum causing problems for us when the real problem was they never finished the process.

If you have deep scratches and the cutting pad removes them but leaves fine scratches behind, (haze or haziness), it's not a leap of imagination to figure out now all you have to do is use a less aggressive pad and possibly a less aggressive product, (perhaps the same product used with the aggressive pad), to now remove the fine scratches.

                            Make sense?

Polishing paint is not only an art form, but it's also a process.

The biggest problem is most people don't have the skills, experience and knowledge to recover from a problem like this and if they're working on something important to them, a new black Lexus for example, the first thing they do is panic... and the broadcast this over the Internet.

                            Not good.

Thus, sometimes you have to look out for people's best interest so they don't hurt themselves or hurt the things they love.

Great looking results ADHD. Your attack plan was almost the exact same one I used on my dark red F-150 and my daughters dark blue Mazada 3. They only difference was I followed the #83 with #80.

Mike, great explanation about using cutting pads as well. I would add that I only use a cutting pads where necessary. You might be able to do the rest of the car with something less aggressive.
