Went to help a work mate give his car the once over today and show him the benifits of Clay and a good polish.

It was a lovely day with unbroken sunshine 8) which turned out to be a bit of a pain in the backside :roll:

After claying which didnt really lift that much, although the paint felt much smoother afterwards.
We went for #80 on a 8006 pad via PC, this wasnt reall cutting it so we stepped up to #83 on a 7006 pad, then back to #80 and topped with a layer of NXT wax via 9006 pad.

I found the sun was drying out the #80 & #83 before it had a chance to fully work, making it a PITA to remove :roll:

All in all its been an enlightening couple of Days and i've learnt alot, i've eventually seen blooming( yesterday :lol: ), enjoyed the Aote and looking forward to arranging some tuition on it, aswell as inducing holograms too ops: .
And found just how hard M-B clearcoat is :lol: :lol:

it was stiil pretty swirled and if i'd had say a couple of days with it i could of gotten swirl free.
But for 4 1/2 hours work i'm pleased.

Wow, you got a lot accomplished in only 4.5 hours!

It came pre-washed, which saved an awful lot of time.

Something i'm glad i didnt have to do as it was around 1 deg C when he washed it

Very nice indeed, so you used a W7006 cutting pad with #83
how did it look after you made your passes
and wiped off the residue, were the swirls and scratches almost
gone but was it still hazy or something, so you had to proceed
with #80 on a W9006 to let it shine and topped with Nxt Car Wax?

I thought that Meguiar's did not recommend to use a W7006
on a PC? but it seems that it did the trick on the finish.

That was the only pad i had spare as i forgot my others, the swirls didnt completely dissappear and although they were improved over the original they were still there.

I think with a Little more practice i'd get it swirl free, but time was against me.

Well, it isnt recomended to use the 7006 pad with the PC, but it certainly looks ok. Perhaps because the paint was so hard.

Have you used the 7006 pad on other cars? Your results with it look very good, but perhaps it isnt for every car.

i have ScratchX'd a whole car with one with no problems,
but i have 6 8006's on the way so the 7006 will be used with a bonnet when they turn up.

OK, I am asking this because I will have the same problem
with a paint that's very hard, and i didn't dare to use my
W7006 on my DA sander, but maybe there are some cases
that it will turn out just fine

You don't know until you tried it?

I've also used this combination several times... and with no problems. I have to say that the paintjobs I worked on were all German's, the paint was very hard. The combination with 83 and a 8006 didn't do much, therefor I worked my way around with a cutting pad. It didn't create any haze..
