Originally posted by Superior Shine I agree with Mike. I don't like the mud dressing that builds up on tires. When #40 shine has diminished to tire remains black and doesn't turn brown (thats good).
It doesn't rain much in So. Cal. so I apply #40 about every two weeks or so for a clean satin/light gloss look.

I had gotten used to Insane Shine, stayed on pretty well. and I had gained experience when applying. When I decided to start going for buying in bulk, I had decided on Hyper-Dressing. Looks are not a big thing for me regarding high gloss, satin sheen etc. For my vehicle any look will do. Just needs to be black and new looking. anything else is a plus.
But I did get kind of used to the IS lasting a while and when the HD came off so quick I though I had done something wrong Technically, I did when I did not gain an understanding of the difference of Water based vs. Solvent based dressing before placing the order. So I lined myself for an unexpected result. "BUT" after having used the HD an thinking about things I have come to realize that it is still a fine product. I put it on again today, also ran it over my running boards and mudflaps and Wheel wells. I think it will be good for all the points low on my vehicle. I had a little issue with it running down the white paint leaving run marks so I won't put it above anything painted anymore. It did this during the rain and also with a couple of heavy dews we had recently.
I tend to dress my tires often. Sometimes every 2-3 days. This waterbased idea might not be bad at all for me. The IS built up rather quicly and I found really hard to remove from my Versa Angle Tire Brush. Which just goes to show that it has staying power for those that are really looking for that. But for the folks like me who re-apply regulary, the water-based stuff is worth consideration.
Is that pad 100% twisted wool, or a blended wool/acrylic pad?
A- don't know
Do you find that the wool is harder to control than foam?
A- No
Do you buff larger areas when using the wool, or about the same?
A-same
Do you find that becasue the wool buffs cooler, it takes longer to break the products down?
A-I don't think heat has anything to do with a product breaking down.
I agree with ya Joe, you can break down the product with a sponge applicator by hand if you wanted to.
Hi SS,really excellent job you did on the MG! You hardly see any of these in europe, anymore. If I remember well, the models you have over there are V8's?
The PO-MANS pad cleaner is the pressure washer. Lay pad on a clean flat surface and blast it. SQUEEZE out most of the water then put it on your buffer and spin the remainder of the water out.
If you can blow it dry with compressed air while its on the buffer, all the better.
