HAHA...Like ColonelCash said, it's easier to talk to Mike and find out what to post and not to post then to potential leak information that Meguiar's would not want released to the public before their launch.

                      Re: Ryan L's testing of 21-13B, 21-09B and 21-21A

I decided to use my Mom’s 2003 Honda Odyssey for the testing of these products because it is dark in color. Unfortunately I just completely polished out all the cars in the past weeks so I didn’t have anything with swirls on to work with. Well, they didn’t already have swirls. So what do you do if it doesn’t have swirls, you make them!! For this I found an old patch of carpet in the garage and used the front and back to produce some swirls. I really rubbed it in to make sure to give these products a run for their money.

                      21-13B

First up was 21-13B, a product similar to a paint cleaner. We were told it was a less aggressive paint cleaner. We were told it was to be used by hand, orbital or DA.

First task was to make some swirls to actually test the product. This is before, ignore the one stray scratch there, not sure what it’s from.

I used the patch of carpet to produce some swirls. I used the front and back and really worked it in.

Here are the results of the artificial swirling.

I taped off a cross so I had four different areas to test the product. One was by hand with a Soft Foam applicator pad, one was by hand with a terry cloth square, one was the G110 with a W-8006 at speed 5 and the last was the old G100 with a W-8006 at speed 5.

I applied 21-13B to a Hi-Tech Applicator pad and went to work, working the product in all directions for about 1 minute.

After 1 application, here is where we stand.

Another application brought the paint almost back to normal, with a couple RIDS.

You can slightly see the paint getting darker and dark with each application. My camera didn’t really catch it, but it was definitely noticeable.

Onto the terry cloth application. I cut up squares of a Soft Buff Terry towel for this. Again, worked the product in for about a minute in several directions.

                      Section before

                      Section after one application

                      After a second application.

Again, the majority of hazing and swirling removed but still some RIDS. I expected this because we were told this was a light paint cleaner, not a heavy swirl remover.

Moving on to the G110 and a W-8006 at speed 5. I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the work time with this product. After I did my testing for swirl removal, I just started polishing for at least 5 minutes and saw a very slight gumming up at that point. I was simply amazed at the work time.

I put the product on the pad like that because with the tops I had, I couldn’t find one to fit on the sample bottles so I just had to squeeze it out.

                      Product in action.

                      Before

                      After 1 pass

2nd Pass. Again still some RIDS, but this is a light paint cleaner, so I totally expected this.

Finally, the old G100 with a W-8006 at speed 5. I know the picture looks really weird but it was the only way I could take the picture and hold it at the same time, I don’t hold it way down there when using it.

                      Before

                      After 1 pass

                      After 2nd pass

This picture is after the tape is removed. You and see a definite darkness on the paint. Don’t you just love orange peel?

Here’s after I went over the whole area with 21-13B again with the G110 and a W-8006 at speed 5.

So after all the pictures, here is the review of this product. As you can see from the pictures, 21-13B does a great job at removing swirls and restoring gloss. Like I stated before I was blown away with the work time of this product. It seemed to only get dusty once started working it about 2 minutes in, which hopefully you won’t need to be working that long anyways.

Ease of Application – 21-13B spread very easily with all applications, you could definitely see some diminishing abrasives in all the applications. 21-13B is about the consistency of M80 so application onto a pad of any sort should be fairly simple and easy.

Ease of Removal – This product removes very easily with all applications and after any amount of work time. I used Supreme Shine Microfiber Towel, the Ultimate Wipe, Soft Buff Terry Towels and Costco Microfibers. Every towel removed the product perfectly; of course the easiest to use was the Ultimate Wipe

Defect Removal – I was very impressed with the defect removal of this product with every application. I was expecting to have to do 3-4 applications by hand to even get the majority of the swirling down while in fact all I needed was 2 passes. Even though you did still see some RIDS after 2 passes by hand, remember this is a lighter Paint Cleaner, not a heavy compound such as M105. Defect removal with both dual action polishers was great, it left a few deeper scratches behind, again expected.

Gloss – While I wasn’t able to capture the added gloss that well on my camera, but it was definitely noticeable. I tested M80 on a panel and 21-13B and they both added about the same amount of gloss, which is great. I’ve always loved the look M80 leaves and I’m glad to see that Meguiar’s is liking it too.

Other notes – 21-13B has almost no dusting at all and didn’t haze the particular paint I was working on at all.

                        Great review Ryan!

Creating swirls! Someone ban this kid he's crazy! Okay, I'll admit, my panel was covered with dust so I wiped it off with a dry paper towel.

                          Re: Ryan L's testing of 21-13B, 21-09B and 21-21A

                          21-21A

We were told to use this product as a spray wax type product. We were told to use the spray and wipe technique.

First thing that I thought about with this product was to test to see if it had hydrophobic properties in it. Of course this has been discussed many times on the forum and it is a new technology Meguiar’s is bringing to their products. For this I use a black paint panel I have in my garage for testing. I cleaned the panel by washing it with dishwashing soap, dried it, used a paint thinner on it and then finally DC1. This insured nothing was on the panel what so ever so the tests were fair.

I taped up half of the panel and used a towel to cover the other side so that 21-21A would not get on the other half.

On half the panel, I applied 21-21A twice using the Mist and Wipe technique. On a quarter of the other half I applied NXT 2.0 and 21-21A twice and on the last quarter, I applied nothing.

Here is a picture showing that 21-21A does add darkness and gloss to the surface you are applying it too.

                          Another one.

And of course the thing we all want to know...hydrophobic properties or not. I'll let you guess!

So with the results from this test, you can see the product does add gloss, depth and hydrophobic properties to the surface you are applying it too.

Ease of Application - Very easy to apply, almost like a spray and wipe product such as UQD or QD. I tested this product with a Hi-Tech Applicator pad as well as a Supreme Shine and I was impressed with both although I would tend to use the Hi-Tech Applicator Pad.

Ease of Removal - This product is very much like Xpress Wax, dries very quickly and very easy to remove. One swipe with the 4 towels I tried (Supreme Shine, Ultimate Wipe, Soft Buff Terry and Costco microfiber) removed everything.

Overall I loved this product in every aspect. Looks to be very promising!!

                            21-21A

Here is another test that shows you how 21-21A adds gloss and depth.

I used my moms mirror for this, tapped up the one side, again so there is no contamination.

Spraying the product onto the applicator pad.

Here are the results after the tape is taken off. I know it may seem very slightly darker, but my camera just couldn't capture it.

Same mirror, just inside the garage.

                                21-21A

Here is a test I wanted to do to see if 21-21A applied and wiped off well in the sun.

This is after the car being in the garage for about 24 hours.

Here is the paint after 1 minute of being outside.

                                Surrounding temperatures.

Here is the temperature after 10 minutes.

And the finished product. Again, a obvious darkness added, and yes I applied the product to the wind deflector as well.

Attack life, it's going to kill you anyway.
