Ok okay guys. I was wondering since 3m has taken over Megs. I was wondering if anybody has tried both products. The performance finish is interesting in that no haze time is required before removing.

3M has not taken over Meguiars. 3M purchased Meguiars and they will hopefully continue to run as seperate entities.

As for your question I have never used the performance finish, so I can't really help you with that.

I can only comment on 3M's compounds over the past 28 years I have gotten better results with 3M as far as

      1. speed of cut
      2. less swirls
3.better clarity after compounding wool and foam
4 very little dusting if any

1-4 based on 3M's Perfect It 6060 and newer version 6085 against Megs
      # 85 Diamond cut, #105 Ultra cut side by side

Interesting. I've read a LOT of people say the newest 3M compound was the biggest step BACKWARDS in the history of detailing. Outside of MOL, M105 appears to be the hands down clear winner for the fastest cutting, best finishing compound out there...people who previously didn't have a positive thing to say about Meg's (Can't imagine how?) are now swearing by M105.

I guess it all goes to show that there certainly are "different strokes, for different folks."

I've been reading outstanding things about 3M's Perfect It line for quite a while. Never tried it though.

You know what....I think I bought some 3M performance finish a while back but have never tried it out. What Meguiar's wax would you like me to compare it too?

That is funny. I didn't notice that when I read the post and replied to it. The word "Acquire" is a funny word that can me so much.

I don't mean to take this a big issue but, but, I think the some of the replies went too far. I can take trust me I work at a machine shop. But, does that make me or anybody else who replies to this post any other one an MBA once I log on ah no.
I've seen this same patten last year when there was talk of GM/Nissan meager on another site. People got upset and scared of could happen to Gm. And before you know it the people saw things in other way got banned from the site.

We are all mostly outsiders looking when post about favorite companies etc. 3M and Megs know what they have plans for in the coming mos. and years ahead. And it's going to work out great.

Besides words and what they mean vary from person to person sometimes they are different than the actual definition.

                    Acquire:
1: to get as one's own: a: to come into possession or control of often by unspecified means b: to come to have as a new or added characteristic, trait, or ability (as by sustained effort or natural selection) 2: to locate and hold (a desired object) in a detector

Purchase: gain, acquire b: to acquire (real estate) by means other than descent c: to obtain by paying money or its equivalent : buy d: to obtain by labor, danger, or sacrifice2: to constitute the means for buying intransitive verb

It just sounded kinda funny, like there was some kind of hostile take over of Meguiars. As I replied, there wasn't a take over but a purchase. It remains to be seen what will happen in the future and one can only speculate. No one really knows. But as has been said many times over the last few days, Barry would not sell his family owned business to someone without thinking of repercussions first, for himself or his family or his loyal employees. I have been here at MOL for quite awhile and have never seen anyone get banned on this site for asking a question or stating an opinion, whether agreed with by Meguiarsonline or it's moderators, as long as the forum rules are complied with.

NO SIR!!! Meguiars will hopefully and from everything I have heard stay just the same. Just think, with the minds at 3M and the minds at Meguiars together, maybe we will get some kind of supernatural, pardon the pun, waxes.

                            i compared the two products.

i have a single stage red metallic paint.

and on my car 2.0 was better.
performance finish removed paint as i laid a coat down, was rather difficult to remove, and didnt feel as glassy as 2.0 which i laid down next to the performance finish. as for durability, i cant go that far, i took 2.0 to the whole car after i was angered with the test spots.

now that was with a single stage aftermarket paint, someone else should comment with a clearcoat paint. maybe totally different.

I used the NXT when it first came out and it was great. A while back I tried the NXT2.0 and hated it. I'm new here so excuse me if I missed something but the new 2.0 version just smears. I had to use #26 to clean the paint up.
