No, we where told to apply the product like a "mist and wipe detailer product" and report findings such as slickness, feel, clarity, ect..... Then Mike Pennington suggested that we wait a day or two and wash the vehicle, paying attention to any differences. He even suggested we treat half and area and report the findings.

Re: Product "129D" - Test Feedback

I got my bottle on Friday and applied it to my car's hood and a few of my customer's cars on Saturday. Definite NXT scent, goes on and off easily and has a deep carnauba look. Rain today (tornado warning until 8 PM!) and my hood is beading like I put #16 on it, plus when I was driving earlier, the beads were flying off pretty quickly.

        So far, so good.

Scott, don't you mean Tornado WATCH????? A Warning means one is on the ground.

          Update on the sample.
After a few days observed less pollen on the area I did.

Ok! We are going to get it here tonight! So far no watches but the air is getting thick. We will see how the new stuff handles lots of rain.

Re: Product "129D" - Test Feedback

Here are a couple pictures, about 24 hours after intial application on my grandmother's hood. The car is white, so it is a little difficult to photograph. It also has not been waxed in over a year, so 129D is definetly the only product on the surface.

The product was applied yesterday to the drivers side of the hood (the other half was later wiped using #34 to clean it but ensure nothing was left behind on the surface).

Please notice the difference in water beading

                Half and half

129D side, notice the tight water bead near the camera

Test side, you can see the side furthest from the camera (129D side), the water had start to run off the paint because of the slickness in the time it took for me to walk around the car.

Hey Scott, nice to see you over here buddy, your opinion is valuable considering the wide range of products you use. I noticed the same type of beading from the post I made (with the pictures). Infact the water started running off for hood more and more and is now about 95% dry vs. the other side.

Re: Product "129D" - Test Feedback

I did another little test with "129D":

Subject: 1992 Camaro RS - Dark Green-Grey Metallic paint, cheap ($800) body shop repaint 18 months ago

Existing protection: Gold Class Liquid Wax (X2)

Procedure: on a warm vehicle (just driven 30 minutes on the freeway) lay a tape stripe down the length of the hood, from windshield to nose; cover passenger side of hood with bath towel to prevent overspray; spray Meguiar's Quik Detailer onto driver's side of hood and wipe off with a clean microfiber towel; move towel to driver's side of hood, spray passenger side with "129D" and remove with a fresh microfiber towel; let sit 24 hours in the garage; pull onto lightly sloped driveway and spray a "shower" pattern from hose nozzle in a back and forth sweeping motion.

Observations: (remember, the hood was warm when I started this yesterday)
                    • "129D" wiped off extremely easily with no streaking at all, leaving a very slick feel. Meguiar's Quik Detailer, in comparison, did not like being used on a warm hood as there was some very light streaking visible.
                    • as I was halfway through the section of hood being treated with "129D" it did seem to impart a slightly darker, richer look to the paint. I'm not sure if my eyes were playing tricks on me, if it was just because I was getting the surface "wet" or what, but halfway through the process I did notice this, yet on the Quik Detailer side I made no such observation.
                    • when I pulled the car into the driveway 24 hours later I observed the finish in both shade and full sunlight. The "129D" side did look clearer and perhaps ever so slightly darker, but mostly due to some streaking still in evidence on the other side. Dust was not an issue as my garage is not terribly dusty and the vehicle sat for only 24 hours
                    • my driveway slopes down away from the garage toward the street and the Camaro was backed out of the garage. This put the otherwise forward sloping hood at close to fully horizontal, although the leading edge of the hood does fall away noticeably. (NOTE: the front bumper cover, including the area between the headlights, did not recieve an appplication of either mist & wipe product, just the hood panel itself) Spraying of water in the "shower" pattern resulted in immediate beading (yay Gold Class!!!) but after three passes the water started to run off the "129D" treated side (see photo below). I made two more sweeping passes of the hose and the untreated side still held onto the beads of water while the "129D" treated side continued to shed like a duck
                    • after taking a couple of pictures I took the nozzle off the hose and let a steady stream of water run over the hood. I held the end of the hose close to the panel and almost parallel to it. While a well waxed car will promote sheeting of water using this method there was a noticeable difference in how quickly this happened on the "129D" treated side. The net result was so similar as to be inconsequential as far as I was concerned - no need for a photo - but I thought it telling that "129D" shed the water so quickly
                    • since the previous step is what I normally do before drying, I decided to do just that - dry the car. Using a waffle weave drying towel folded in 1/4s I first pulled from the windshield toward the front on the "129D" treated side. The finish was just plain DRY - no streaking, no nothing. One pass and I was done. I grabbed a fresh waffle weave towel and repeated on the untreated side - I had to make a second pass as there was some residual, although very light, streaking. The "129D" treated side also felt much more slick when pulling the towel over it. Granted, I did not wash with any kind of soap, just a water spray, but still.........

Conclusion: can you say "hydrophobic"? This "129D" stuff just hates water and, as I've said, sheds it like a duck (perhaps that's the "D" in "129D"????). You can clearly see the difference in run off in the picture below. Again, "129D" on the passenger side (left side of the picture) and the runoff is maybe 1/3 of the way up the hood while the untreated side has tight beads right down to the front edge of the hood. You can see the start of some runoff on the driver's side, but it's nothing compared to the "129D" side. Meguiar's, I think we have a winner here.

Mike-nice picture and step by step write up. I definitely noticed today how well the 129D shed water on my hood in the rain. Even as the rain fell as I drove, the beads kept rolling up to the windshield rather quickly.

I will have to try it on the windshield and see how it works there too.

i've got it! I read a couple of write ups and got a good idea. you've got a spray on quick detail , a spray on wax , what about a spray on POLISH!!! polish gives you the wet look & shine also a slick feel. also someone stated that when you wiped over area again it had a deeper or wetter look or felt slicker i think? anyhow if it's not what about a spray on polish ?
