Hi everyone,
I am located in the South East of England and took delivery of a new black metallic E class Mercedes in September. The bonnet of my car had a couple of etchings on it, no idea from what, so I thought a careful treatment of T-cut would remove them. It did of course do the job but left awful marring on the surface and after lots of googling I was drawn into the meguiars products. I've only performed hand treatments as I am terrified of messing the paintwork up. Using soft foam pads I used UC or Scratch X 2.0 depending on the marring. Did several hand treatments and then followed up with Swirl Remover across the whole bonnet (Swirl X doesn't seem to exist in the UK). After this I finished off with NXT 2.0 liquid. This seems to have removed the marring but most posts I read in the forum seem to suggest that a DA polisher is the way to go in the future?
As I said I am very cautious about messing with paintwork but I do want my nice black car (earned from real hard work) to stay looking good.
One burning question I do have is how much of the surface is likely to get removed with hand treament? I did this with a flat hand pressure using meguiars foam pads.
I now possess UC, Scratch X 2.0, Swirl remover! deep crystal polish (not used yet as purchased too late for my treatment), and NXT 2.0. I use foam pads for application and meguiars microfibre cloths for removal. These are such good products.
