  • A compliment to MOL and all of it's users.

Okay, I'm not new here anymore, but I wanted to share something that I have noticed that I feel really makes MOL far and away beyond GREAT!

First, when I originally joined I noticed that there is a wonderful comraderie between the members here. Young or old, new or veteran, everyone treats each other with a tremendous amount of respect. This is something that I find is lost in most of our society nowadays, so it is very refreshing to see here. Everybody is very willing to help each other out with not only suggestions but support.

Second, it is so amazing to have such a wonderful melting pot of people from different cultures and countries here. It is a place where no matter what your religion, race, creed, male or female, or age, we are all brought together by our love of cars, boats, planes etc. Maybe the rest of the world should take a page from our book

And finally, the part that really got me hooked here at MOL, is that no matter what brand or company you use, there are always friendly comments and support. I have yet to see (and I know I never will) any Meguiar's representative put down another manufacturer. This is definitely the strongest reason I keep using Meg's as my primary supplier.

All in all, I would like to say "thank you" to everyone here, from the employees of Meguiar's to each and every member, for contributing to such a special place and making me feel so comfortable.

    See everyone around!

    Yours truly,

    Andy Drake

    Andy,

    I agree!

This site, in my opinion, is way better than AGO (autogeekonline) as we very rarely have flame wars or fighting between members. I have been insulted several times on AGO which is why I very rarely post there. When I do it is usually to suggest a Meguiars product over their way overpriced boutique items.

Anyway, I have learned so much from MOL which has allowed me to start my own detailing business. I am forever grateful.

By the way, I write this from the new MOL app on my iPhone! Loving it!

    Thank you Meguiars and MOL!!

Re: A compliment to MOL and all of it's users.

      Andy and Shawn,

You are correct in saying this is, in my opinion anyway, the best detailing forum on the net. We strive to create the environment where everyone is welcome. From the first day I joined, way back when, it has been that way. My first post? Tim Lingor, aka 2hotford, welcomed me and not only replied to all my dumb posts at the time (lol) newbie, I was hooked. Here I am now still here and am actually a part of the way the forum runs. We welcome everyone and we keep a close eye so that members new and old are treated with the respect they deserve. We welcome all opinions.

In a nutshell, when this forum was created, and Mike Phillips and Tim were running it, that is what it was meant to be. "FAMILY FRIENDLY" as we call it. No matter what age you can sit and show your son or daughter what you are looking at, (no explicit pics) or read what you are reading aloud, (no explicit language). We will never bash or allow the bashing of another company's product nor will we allow the bashing of another member. The members are what drives this forum, and I would like to personally thank you for always chiming in to help another member and showing us your great results with Meguiars products or combinations of Meg's and other products. You guys are the best!!

Hope we are doing well, and we appreciate you kind words.

      Andy

Re: A compliment to MOL and all of it's users.

I definitely agree with you guys that this forum is the BEST DETAILING FORUM out there. I like how people are so friendly and helpful. Everyone tries to chime in, help each other and provide some feedback and answers to questions or problems encountered. More so with our moderators and the employees of Meguiar's... They just provide very detailed and well written answers to all our questions. That takes a lot of thought and time and it just goes to show how friendly and knowledgeable they are and their willingness to help out. Not to mention the great products Meguiar's offers at affordable prices!!!

Needless to say, I'll be hanging out in this forum until I can't type anymore and try to help and contribute as much as I can.

Re: A compliment to MOL and all of it's users.

As it has been alluded to, Mike Phillips and Tim Lingor established the foundation for a detailing site that focused on the art of detailing, not fanboy posturing or intolerance for new members. Rules prohibiting flaming are strictly enforced. When Mike Phillips left, Mike Stoops ably stepped in and continued the tradition of keeping MOL family and newbie friendly. There should never be hesitation to ask any question, no matter how basic. New members are encouraged to run a basic search first by typing in a keyword or two, but other than that, no holds are barred.

I am in 100% agreement. Detailing is a one of my favorite things to do. What makes it even better is that MOL is here and that all the members new old to help one another out. Its the first place I go when I'm having trouble with something or just to see what everyone's up too. MOL will always have my two thumbs up

Re: A compliment to MOL and all of it's users.

Just so you guys all know - this thread has been passed around our offices here and we are very flattered indeed at the kind comments. Meguiar's has been, and always will be, big on teaching and education and MOL was created in order to spread that education as widely as possible. We wanted to create an environment where everyone could be comfortable learning about this hobby regardless of skill set, knowledge level, or ambition. Apparently we're hitting that mark reasonably well, by the sounds of things in this thread.

But it must be said that without the input of our members, whether someone who's responding regularly and assisting with the education process, or someone just asking a great question that gets a great discussion going, MOL wouldn't be what it is today. So we owe all of you a big "thank you" in return.

Remember, this hobby is supposed to be your therapy, not the reason you need therapy.

Re: A compliment to MOL and all of it's users.

I've only just registered, but let me say that I'm very appreciative of the help I've received. I think I have difficult problem in front of me but it's not the end of the world. I also need to take my car to a professional and have them educate me regarding the Tri-Stage paint that I have and what I'm suppose to expect from it. I've told that the Laser Red Metallic is a color that will give me different looks, depending on different angles and where the lighting is coming from etc... That could be part of my problem. Since I do realize that the sides of the car look really good in the sun and are darker than the hood for example that has the sun coming down right on top of it. It still has a very good depth to it since I can see the sky and tree's in it after taking pictures and has that wet look to it, again depending on the angle of the light. So part of it is my problem I think because I don't know what to expect to be exact. I will be searching for a good shop in the area to get some helpful advice in that regards. I have a Mustang website and I clearly wrote out the rules regarding language etc.. since it's considered safe for all ages. I've been to many, many websites forums and like some have mentioned, your experience there may not be the greatest due to their lack of moderating and/or rules. The world can be a happier place without yelling at each other or trashing some ones car because it's not a Corvette or Mustang etc...or it's not low enough for one person and calls it hideous. Some people will modify their cars and some won't and leave them stock. All of us are going to be different and respect is earned, not given. If someone wants to visit my website, it will be due to them having and sharing a love for Mustangs and wanting to know the latest Ford technology like myself, then that's great, if not that's no problem because there's a ton of different cars out there and they all have their own unique appearances and performance. So with that said, thanks for the advice, I like to learn about cars all the time and every day I learn something new, I'm a happier person at the end of the day due to the additional knowledge I've gained.
Have fun with these awesome automobiles, inside and out.

Greatest team on the web! My opinion. When I started detailing my car there were few questions and concernes with black paint I had on my car. I called Michael Stoops and he was more then willing to take his time to help me. Now where else can you get that kind of help? Now I don't suggest that everyone calls him. LOL
Thanks to all the Staff and members for doing a GREAT job on this site.

I have to say this is the most helpful, friendliest site on the net....I've been to other car sites and had people slam me for just asking a simple question.
I find myself loggin on daily, even at work just to see if there's something I could learn, or help out if i could.

A few weeks ago when MOL was down for upgrades/ maintenance....it was the longest few days of my life
